Default Being Single...

Is fucking awesome. My boyfriend of one month and I called it quits two nights ago. There was a mutual feeling that neither of us cared about making our relationship work anymore, so we decided to call it quits and get our lives straightened out. Honestly, I had been contemplating breaking up with him for around a week now. The infatuation that existed died off fairly quickly, and I never felt any real kind of love for him. I realized he wasn't the one.

Anyhow, I'm glad to be single. I just love the freedom of not being tied down with a relationship.

Being single is only awesome right after you break up and being in a relationship is only awesome right after your single. So I guess I'm saying that change is awesome and everything else is meh.

Bullshit. If you lose the spark in your relationship in the first week, then you're a fucking idiot and you should stop dating girls just because they have nice hair and big tits. Go for someone who has some kind of depth, at least enough to love you back.

I know a lot of people who are always in need of a partner, who can't be alone for even a few weeks because all their self worth is tied up in having someone like them.

Personally, I'm okay with being single, although I haven't been in ages. Sometimes it's nice not to be accountable to anyone except for yourself. However in my experience, once you get into a worthwhile relationship, all the things that rock about being single fall by the wayside and stop seeming so alluring, and all the negative aspects of being in a relationship don't seem so negative any more.

Well come on you have to admit (considering you've been in a relationship before) that it's always a lot different the first week or so. There's still that feeling of a new person in your life and the unexpectedness of it all. And getting to know each other and still trying to impress each other and things like that. Now compare that to someone in a relationship after 6 months. At that point, there's still some spark, but only now your not trying to impress the person and your not finding out new things about them every day and your laughing about different things. All that.

So before you go calling people idiots because their relationship has matured, maybe consider having a relationship yourself first so you know what it's like.

Well sure, I acknowledge that there is a change. The first few weeks are very exciting, but after about six months it gets so much more deep and you're so much closer. I mean yeah it's fun to have the head-over-heels feeling in a new relationship, but it's so much cooler when you can have a girl/guy who you can communicate with without even having to say anything. I say developing a bond is so much more rewarding and fulfilling.

It's great bonding with a special someone but once you know everything about each other it gets stale. Then you wind up spending most nights in front of the tv not speaking because you already exhausted the 15 minutes of new stuff that happen to you today.

Your relative time frame of 1 week seems to indicate you haven't had much relationship experience or that you're young.

I'm very aware of what my relationship is.

I don't have that relationship that I described. My relationship is two months in, and it's all still new and exciting. She thinks she's in love, I know I'm not. As arquin said, I'm fifteen and already jaded. I KNOW all this shit. You don't have to tell me, or condescend to me. Mad

I'm a relationship kind of guy, being single gets boring, IMO.

I like someone caring for me and me looking after someone.

Gives things a little more meaning, something to look forward to everyday.

And for the ones that loose that "spark" after the first week, we'll, then she/he wasn't it. Move on.

And Mitchell Y. McDeere, sounds like you're married :p

Go out and do crazy shit.

I don't think I'm cut for a relationship. I like only relying on myself, knowing that if I fuck up, it was me, and if I achieve something, it was me.

Being picky and idealistic doesn't help much either.

Wow you went out for one fucking month and are now single. Big change. Go out with someone for like 2 years and then break up, and then talk about being single.
