Recently-deleted forums. threads, and posts...
I have backups of all of the recently-deleted forums. threads, and posts. All will be restored within the next few days.
It's easy to restore a backup, it's a little harder to just restore things that were deleted while retaining all of the new messages posted since the deletions. Since I don't want to wipe out everything posted since the deletions, it's going to take me just a little bit of time to do the restoration.
Thanks for your patience during this latest debacle.

After modding in a decent manner, (according to Metaphysicist, anyways) for a few weeks, I was demodded, after being advised the appointment was not initiated by the usual means, and I was advised my promotion was really invalid, and I was therefore removed.
I was advised I COULD be considered at a later time, IF a forum required the assist, and asked for the promotion. Just thought I'd let you know that ONE of your hardest workers here was slighted by Bob (the hacker), feels wounded to the core, and can be of use to you on this site as more than a regular poster. And now, I must retire to my bedroom to consider my untimely downfall.

Jackketch has already outlined for everyone who needs to be in-the-know how the administrator account hack was accomplished, and alluded to who really did it by using a pseudonym for the would-be hacker. The other three moderator accounts had also been hacked, and I was able to re-hack them back to Totse, by obtaining the passwords from the hacker of those accounts, then returning the passwords to zok (along with all associated Totse e-mail accounts, which had also been commandeered). Zok thanked me in public for retrieving those accounts. Mok was one of them, and he now enjoys full use of his moderator account even to this day. Don't be so cynical about all I've done to help better this place.

Don't think Snoopy has ever claimed to be German.
Thing is though, if some evil hacker did make totse German speaking only, snoops is one of the people whom it wouldn't phase. If he doesn't already speak it then he'd sit down and learn..or rather drive across the border and get laid and get taught that way. Not being american and all he 1 . is happy to learn another language if it means getting laid and 2. gets laid.

most people would be ban for this, but Snoopy is allowed to break whatever rules he wants and nothing will be done so I guess we will have to get used to it. For some reason he is allowed to have multiple accounts, derail threads and hijack threads with immunity from every mod here.

Jeff is probably using what little time he has to repair the damage. Restorations are tricky. Think about the sheer size and volume of posts on HB before it was deleted. It isn't just a cut 'n paste job, especially if you don't want to lose or misfile what has been posted since.
Pretty much all the details of what happened have already been posted and I have asked permission to post a fuller account I wrote for M&A.
I agree that there is too much secrecy in general but in this case its not so much.

I gotta admit, all the time I've been posting here......I've pretty much held Jeff in pretty high regard. Admittedly I was somewhat starstruck, thinking....."Wow, he must be a super cool dude to have originated all of this. And maintain it in whatever capacity all of these years."
But after seeing this, I'm quite taken aback and kind of miffed at the whole thing. That could be one of the most ridiculous and childish ways to "handle" this.....and it is astounding that Jeff would even try such a sophmoric attempt on what is obviously someone that is at least a bit shrewd considering they could hack the Enigma account. That whole tactic is the kind of silliness you would try on a group of 12 year olds when trying to figure out who egged the school principal's car.
But dealing with a hacker that created so much havoc, confusion, and work for everyone? Please!!!! It was a moronic ploy then, hours later, days later....and now OVER A MONTH LATER with no other follow-up its just stupid on an exponential level. Mind you, no one at all made him promise to us that he would give a PUBLIC explanation...he did so on his own accord. And not just telling the mods in M & A...but ALL OF US.
And here we are over a month later.....I guess Jeff has busted out the washboard torture techniques or something? The hacker must be one helluva tough bastard, huh?

1. Jeff let the niravana.org domain expire.
2. Jackketch bought the cheapest hosting with e-mail server package that he could get for the domain, then he reset the Enigma@nirvananet.org account password using the Totse password reset tool. Then he made mods of the persons he thought would benefit Totse, and he removed the ones he thought were bringing this place into the ground, basically doing Jeff and zok's jobs for them in spite of their chronic incompetence.
3. Acidmelt left in disgust of Jeff's carelessness.
4. Jeff doesn't know what to believe, because he's let this community down for so long, and been such an alien to its workings, that he doesn't even know anything about it anymore, so he's just throwing out stupid shit to save face because of his own self-inflicted cluelessness on this issue.
5. There has been no solid proof as yet presented of Jackketch's noble efforts.

1. Jeff let the niravana.org domain expire.
2. Jackketch bought the cheapest hosting with e-mail server package that he could get for the domain, then he reset the Enigma@nirvananet.org account password using the Totse password reset tool. Then he made mods of the persons he thought would benefit Totse, and he removed the ones he thought were bringing this place into the ground, basically doing Jeff and zok's jobs for them in spite of their chronic incompetence.
3. Acidmelt left in disgust of Jeff's carelessness.
4. Jeff doesn't know what to believe, because he's let this community down for so long, and been such an alien to its workings, that he doesn't even know anything about it anymore, so he's just throwing out stupid shit to save face because of his own self-inflicted cluelessness on this issue.
5. There has been no solid proof as yet presented of Jackketch's noble efforts.

One other thing to note on this is that Jackketch is Old School Totse, which was another world entirely before the likes of zok got in with his idiotic censure rules and complete disregard and apathy for the spirit of this site. (It really must suck to have your nick forever attached to the final downfall of a shining Net legend. lol) The last few remaining true Templars are not just going to sit idly around while there is even the slimmest chance of ousting this administration of clowns and getting the place back to where it was. I certainly applaud his actions, although I really wish he had been more discrete in his plans, and not so hasty, knowing that if used well the account could have leveraged the current stumbling blocks completely out of the scene.

Just to make a couple of things clear: Zok is a much older totsean than I, infact he's been here almost twice as long.
And depsite what many might think, no I wasn't the hacker.
Also Zok isn't really the villain of the piece, nor acidmelt. The real villains are every single one of us old schoolers who didn't protest when the anti-freedom of speech movement here started rolling. We are all guilty and we're only getting the totse we deserve.
Mea culpa, I should have stood up early and been more vocal. The rot didn't start with "Together We Swerve", it started way way before that....before the change over even.
Now we're stuck with mods who are scared to say what they think in public (in private most of us are still pretty vocal), who see their forums as fiefdoms and who can only envisage totse in their own image.

Oh and incase anyone is remotely interested in what I think, I think the rot really set in with the Infraction System (although there were signs before the change over too). I think the infraction system is probably the single biggest danger for this site.
It's each mod's own personal electronic Star Chamber and it gets more abused, more often, than a toddler at a paedophile convention.

The site needs to be refreshed. Get some new blood in alongside the old mods. Bckpkr or whatever his name is would make a fine mod of OI for example and he's always here and posting.
Keep the old mods in but you guys really need some new blood to challenge your ways and keep things fresh and progressive.

Keep the old mods in but you guys really need some new blood to challenge your ways and keep things fresh and progressive.Right now, you have incompetent administrators who leave regular users and new arrivals alike to send e-mail/account problems/concerns to moderators that haven't even been here for months, who bluntly ignore and overrule the wishes of the super-moderators Jeff himself has appointed to manage and replace those absent and delinquent moderators, who constantly make false assessments of valid problems presented here, who diligently keep back tireless contributors back from promotion, who apathetically ignore the wishes of forum moderators who have already named their worthies, who suddenly demote moderators who have legitimately made their way into tenure, and who themselves contribute absolutely nothing of value at all. Do you really expect these people, who alone have the power to do what you are suggesting, but have made it known many times they do not care about such things, to take your thoughts seriously? There won't be any change for the better here until they are gone, and that is the end of story.

Which brings us to another interesting line of thinking that no one ever seems to want to touch. Just how old IS Zok any how? By his supposed happy frollicking collegian personna one would think early to mid 20's?
That is half the problem right there.....Jeff gave administrative powers to a fuckin puppy that doesn't have the smarts, social skills, or fortitude to do it properly. Think about that for a minute folks, you put a guy in charge of hundreds and hundreds of PEOPLE issues....when the guy can't socialize or mingle IRL for 2 sentences without being a stuttering/stammering fuck.
Quite simply, the failed fuckwit should be in a room/cubicle with little to no human intereactions.....much less in CHARGE of such a complex and diverse community as this. More than likely Zok is Jeff's son/nephew/severely burned orphaned child that he feels bad about.......and that is why he is fucking things up so badly. Zok sucks at the job, but Jeff is a softy. :(

The administrators and supermods don't give a rats ass about the feelings or suggestions of regulars, no matter how many people complain. Their stubbornness and ideology was ridiculous. Meta said it himself during the trashing of HB debate that he only cares what mods think/say and everyone else can piss off. That is the real problem with totse.

No, I don't give a fuck if they're good enough for HB or not: That's for the HB Mods to decide [and from the fact that most of what I send stays open, they must think it is ok there. Their opinion is the only one that matters.
What I care about, my little troll friend, is that they don't belong in SG or any other forum, yet still shouldn't be locked. What happens after it goes to HB I could care less about. Once again you try to give HB an importance it doesn't have to anyone but those HB kiddies.
I also was trolled for logically and honestly requesting him to rethink his position. He is the one throwing insults and accusing people of being trolls during debates, thus attempting to kill or nullify our freedom of speech. This, my friends, is you problem with totse - the mentality at the highest levels.

This problem and the one of a lack of real moderation in forums is easily solved by adding in some new blood (no not me ) to shake things up. Otherwise you have the same old, stale opinions and members running things. |

Are there any threads from TWO MONTHS AGO that you can't find?
Jeff, I know you still read this, but I think this issue is resolved, and this thread needs to be locked ASAP, because clearly no one here is having issues any more.

The posts that were deleted still don't link up when you do a search and they are still gone from post count. I don't care about the post count, but I would like the search to work. |

It sounds to me (Never used vBul) that perhaps Jeff didn't re-sync all the forums (or hasn't yet) when he restored HB, which may fix this problem, but may also create MAJOR site lag as it is restoring.

It sounds to me (Never used vBul) that perhaps Jeff didn't re-sync all the forums (or hasn't yet) when he restored HB, which may fix this problem, but may also create MAJOR site lag as it is restoring.
I am experiencing a major lag. It's been that way for the past week or so. Some page loads are lightning fast, others take as long as 3 minutes to load.
