Re: best brand of scales
You're gonna get what you pay for. $20-25 tend not to be good scales at all. Those people probably aren't getting accurate measurements. If you've got some money, get one from a science catalog. Not from the headshop.

Re: best brand of scales
Buy online. I really like my Blade scale, weighs out to 0.01 grams, was less than $50. DON'T buy the Treacherous-Triton, as my friend calls them. Terrible scale, the Triton. Awful.

Re: best brand of scales
Ive had a My-Weigh Scale. The black one that folds up into a case for about 5 years now, and it has been dropped on concrete, tile, carpet. Thrown accross the room, and prob much more that I cant remember, but it still fires up and runs like new everytime I use it. It just has to be calibrated every few uses, so you have buying a scale by the weight to calibrate it.

This is bullshit. Price doesn't matter, it's all about not having a shitty product.
I have two scales, one cheap one more expensive. The cheap one is an 'Infiniti' brand [it-350] and it works fine. As for getting inaccurate measurements, well anyone who cares about this simply needs to buy a set of weights. And I can honestly say my cheap scale [which cost $19.99] is just as accurate as my more expensive one [well, the more expensive one goes up to .01g but the cheap one is still on par despite the extra point].

yea the cheap scales ive encountered only goto tenths. The ones that go hundreths or thousandths are $40 and up usually.
If you look hard you could prob find a tenths or hundreths scale cheaper, cuz alot of typical headshops and flea markets know they can overcharge greedy stoners

Re: best brand of scales
Mine was 27 dollars at the tobacco shop, and its at least 2 years old no problems at all, even came with a weight to calibrate
Same exact scale at the head shop was 80 bucks, so i think i got a good deal
So anyone will do maybee stay away from the real real cheap ones
And that shit about them not being accurate is bull shit

Re: best brand of scales
Tip: For those of you without calibration weights, a US nickle weighs exactly 5g. I'm sure there will be discrepancies with milligram scales, but for your typical .1-.01 scale it works. I have a cheap AWS brand .1 scale and it has always been accurate, and it has been through some pretty unfavorable conditions.

Shut the fuck up acolyte
Any scale you get no matter how cheap it is will only be off .1 tops i have never seen one more off than that even fucking 10-15 dollar ones are more accurate then the alternative hanging postal scales
Mine has fallen countless times on concrete hard wood been in my pocket thrown and is still just as accurate as the day i took it out of the box dumbass

Re: best brand of scales
.1 is a huge margin. those types of scales are made to handle much more load (the filaments will be built like bricks)
when you're dealing with tenths/milligram scales, room temp is enough to throw the reading off by a good 10-30 mgs. and they must be repeatedly calibrated to retain their accuracy. if you drop these types you will permanently fuck the measuring system up the ass and it will never be good for weighing anything besides weed. and if it is for weed alone, any scale in the world will work.

Re: best brand of scales
Yeah, .1 is huge, man, and I've seen them off way more than that. I want my scale to be accurate. I went through several cheapo ones ($20-30) before finally getting one from my chemistry class. When weighing powder, the cheap ones would give drastically different weights depending on how fast I poured, and I could weigh out an eighth, take it off, tare, and put it back on, and it would be as much as .3 off. You may have gotten lucky with yours, but I think it's more likely that you're getting bad measurements. If you did get a good one for cheap, you got lucky. Most of those cheap headshop scales suck.
EDIT: And by the way, saying "shut up, acolyte" makes you sound like a bitter idiot. There are brand new users here WAY better than older ones, and older ones who are complete fucking retards. In this case, he was right and you were wrong. Join date means jack shit. As if totse's the only place to learn about drugs

Re: best brand of scales
I got some cheap $30 scales and they're fine, they're good for weighing bud. Brand is Fuzion, these ones:
http://www.everyonedoesit.co.uk/online_headshop/Microtech_Digital_Scale.cfm?iProductID=56
Come with a 100g Calibration weight.
If you're looking to spend more than go with Tanita, they're bangin'. Such as these:

Bluelight has a stickied thread on scales somewhere (directed more towards RCs than week tho so accuracy is a huge issue).

Re: best brand of scales
Jscale makes a good scale, had mine for a couple years built like a tank, dropped ita few times, but they come with a calibration weight.. also have a mini brandless scale thats never fucked up on me, the key with scales is that there delicate instruments, you dont want to drop them or anything, so i would suggest leaving it at home, and you dont want to get rolled with your weights on you anyways.
