True, I suppose I just need to find the right one. I don't see the need to have a lot of girlfriends who mean fuck all to me all the time though

On topic: Yes, especially as the majority of girls I meet aren't worth dating, so it's scrabble and perving on school girls til I find one that's worthwhile.

Re: Ever just wanted to be alone?
Read the first 3 sentences in Irvine Welsh's "Eurotrash".
I bet that's what most totseans feel like often.

By "not made" to be alone, I mean we're not cut out for it. FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD.

I can empathize with that. Just broke up with my boyfriend. The freedom of being single is awesome.

I hate being alone, but I wouldn't trade it for a bad relationship. However, I've met a wonderful women recently.

Re: Ever just wanted to be alone?
Yeah, I'd rather be alone about 85% of the time. Some people would say that makes me a bit of a weirdo, since people are social creatures as Chichi said. For me, it's just normal, though. I can't imagine wanting to spend more time with people than I currently do (which is quite minimal) because personally I usually don't get that much out of it, compared to the alternative of a more solitary approach.
Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of interesting people... I just don't relate to others that well (I always have a sort of 'distance' between me and the world.) I tend to see myself as more of an observor than a participator in this whole 'human' thing.
Social interraction can be fun, and very rewarding... but for me, I just find that those moments tend to be quite rare, and most of the time I'd rather be introspecting, or working on some individual project I have in mind, instead... because the rewards I get from those sorts of pursuits can be comparatively much greater, IMO. Though I suppose they're different and can't really be compared in such a way.
People are just different. I'm the type of dude that's more into his personal projects and artistic pursuits, that oftentimes I see 'reality' or relationships as just getting in the way. Most relationships between people involve a sacrifice of personal freedoms.
You have to be there for them and empathize with them and help them out when they're in trouble, etc. Romantic relationships (ie: girlfriends) are even worse for this. You both have to re-allocate your energies, giving considerable amounts of attention to something that is outside of this solitary 'vision' of mine.
It just doesn't seem entirely likely, to me. I'm not really the type of person who has a lot of room in his heart. I definately have some room, and am willing to welcome some people into my heart. It just won't be a common thing, or even that big of a priority... like if I had to chose: Following my personal/individual vision, or having a meaningful relationship... I would generally always chose my 'vision', because it just tends to be more important to me.
It's all about evaluating your priorities. I care more about my life as a solitary journey, or whatever... and thus, I tend to care much less for how other people factor into my life. I'm just so much more concerned with how I see things, that I often feel like I don't need others at all.
Some people just prefer their independence and autonomy way too much to ever be very eager to give it up for the sake of a relationship. Now when I say this, it almost seems like I'm trying to sound all cool by saying I don't need people, or whatever. I'm not, and I do need others... it's just a matter of degree. I mean, yes, we all need consideration and understanding from others, every now and then.
For me, I just have fewer needs for interpersonal intimacy, etc. The foundation of my personality or whatever just tends to be based more internally, and is driven by my sense of autonomy... so sacrificing this autonomy for another (or even having another person sacrifice their autonomy for my sake) makes me quite uncomfortable.
I guess you could call me a bit of a commitment phobe. The idea of me giving up my freedom for another sometimes just seems a bit unlikely, because I'm the type to be bothered by such sacrifices. Also, the idea of another giving up their freedom for my sake freaks me out. It can feel like a lot of responsibility to have other people placing so much trust in me, and likewise, that sort of thing also makes me feel as if I'm losing my autonomy due to messy interpersonal things.
Blahg, long post. Basically, some people (like myself) suck at the whole intimacy and relating meaningfully/deeply to other human-begins thing. I don't think there's anything wrong with this preference (hell, it's my own preference, so I'm bound to be somewhat biased towards it).
While, yes, humans are social creatures... I think it's all a matter of degree. While I would not call myself "asocial" or devoid of social habits, I certainly wouldn't call myself "social" as a descriptor in the affirmative sense, either...

Re: Ever just wanted to be alone?
Yeah I kind of miss being single. But at the same time really enjoy being in a relationship. Each has its plus's and minus's. I feel like my gf really likes me a lot more than I like her back so I'm a little confused. It's like I know its not going anywhere, but what the hell why not enjoy it while I can.

Because if you buy a cow, you can sell milk to others.

Re: Ever just wanted to be alone?
Being alone is just more intellectually stimulating. Conversations with most people are just bullshit talk, nothing really meaningful. Though when I do desire to be with someone, its just sexual. I have no desire to speak to or even see a particular girl after sex, that's just the way I'm wired.
Yeah, being the loner in a family of outgoing people does become frustrating at times, but one becomes used to it, and you are grateful that you are left out of the ensuing drama that is sure to follow.
