So I have a new girlfriend, who just came over from China about 2 months ago. Naturally, her English is not very good. When I say not very good, I mean it's very hard to talk at all.

She is really quite a sweet person. I really like her a lot, and she the same.

I really want to get to know her better, but it's hard because of the language. We get a long, and I enjoy talking to her, but it's hard and takes a long time to understand. I will admit, it is quite fun though.

But I really would like a way to get to know her better without it taking about an hour for a simple conversation.

my cousin was about 12 when he came to america, he had the language down pretty fast, when he moved from Seattle to LA, and the teachers asked him how long he'd been in America he said about a year. they were surprised he spoke english so well. however he does have sort of an accent still even though its been about 2 years, and doesnt quite spell properly all the time. my point is, throw her in english environments a lot, my cousin was the only asian kid(except from one other, i think, but they didnt talk) at an all white school. watch movies with her, grab movies with both english and chinese subtitles. just spending time with her should be okay for now. in time you two may even communicate in your own special way.
