Dmso + thc
Say you had hash oil. Then you had DMSO.
Say you mixed them.
Then rubbed it on your skin.
Would you have a topical rub-in THC method?
Or would the DMSO somehow neutralize or fuck up the THC?

Not this shit again
If i were meta i would lock this thread, and ban you....
Human skin, at any given time, hosts a myriad of microscopic organisms on its surface.
"They" don't harm you, because your skin does its job. It doesn't fucking matter how much you wash your hands, you will not be able to "sanitize" your skin completely.
But if you feel lucky, go ahead, give it a whirl. Its not likely that something will squeeze through that your body wont be able to handle. But there are countless blood born pathogens, i would not want to be in contact with... in the presence of DMSO.

^^^this. Run a search for DMSO in BLTC and like 5 threads will show. This is the eventual conclusion. Although, I forget if sublingual DMSO was ruled out. Might still be viable, run the search.

As someone who has actually used DMSO on myself for medical purposes, I dismiss this claim. I've used it many times with no ill effects, and know several other people who have as well.
Now, the original question restated. A chemistry question which requires no further answer other than yes or no.
Would the DMSO neutralize or transform the the THC into a poison or undesirable chemical?

Oooo... The intellectuals who originally spoke out against this are not going to be happy about this... I love that out called them out on it. Props. Seriously, the upper tier BLTCers were all like "DMSO is teh bad sh!t." If this isn't true, you have won a victory for people wishing to ingest things transdermally.

If the above is true (that DMSO isn't as bad as the smart people say) then you're good to go. Theoretically, DMSO shouldn't cause the THC to degrade/decompose. Post results.

Re: Dmso + thc
Youre such a fucking idiot, the whole point theyre trying to get across is that SURE, you might not get sick the same as you might not get sick after being exposed to the myriad of bacteria floating in the air in your bedroom. But giving them a clear path into your bloodstream (and past a good chunk of your body's defences) is hardly bettering your odds is it you cretin.

You're basing these half-cocked flaming posts on theoretical information taken to extremes. People are comparing this to using secondhand needles. I came here to get a chemistry question answered, not to get preached at by hypochondriacs.
If you don't live in a diseased shithole..
If you shower regularly..
If you don't bathe in pigs blood..
If you do at least a halfass job of taking care of your immune system..
You probably won't have problems.
Like I said, I've seen people use the stuff to alleviate muscle/joint pain and be in less than sanitary conditions, and be fine. I've also used it myself(with common sense emphasis on cleanliness), and Im fine as well.
Thanks for being sensible, hydro.

Re: Dmso + thc
anyone who has used DMSO know it doesnt work worth a shit. really. it only has practicality for sublingual use, but it burns and tastes too nasty for that.
oh and no it doesnt invite bacteria into your blood stream, they are too big to pass through membranes/skin. only things that are completely dissolved in the dmso will go through

Re: Dmso + thc
Well, this doesn't directly answer your question, but please consider this. Old testament rabbis would make anointing oils using cannabis for religious rites. Some theorize it caused people to become prophets (experience of ego-less-ness, god-hood, etc.), Jesus included. I understand you want to use DMSO because of how quickly it is absorbed, but perhaps you could consider using oil instead?

Alternate effects would be more interesting to look at than absorption speed. Look at smoking vs. ingestion. Transdermal use might have a different variety of effects.
Is there any particular information about these anointing oils? Did they add some sort of herb to act as a delivery liniment?
Theoretically, if the cannabinoids will dissolve fully into the DMSO without their psychoactive effects being ruined, this should be viable. Of course, the key word here is if.
Im addressing this topic to people with knowledge in chemistry and/or personal experience.
I don't see where you flaming dipshits think you saw your opinion being requested. If you google 'DMSO THC' this is the first result that comes up. Contribute to making it informative, or fuck off.

Re: Dmso + thc
I was quite aware of your original intent of the post (asking whether cannabinoids would interact with DMSO), but I didn't answer that question. I simply wanted to add that transdermal cannabis DOES work, at least when diluted with oil and that if anything it might be worthwhile to try, especially cause that's how people used it 1000's of years ago. Pretty cool thought, imo.
However, to indeed answer your question (lol), from my college chemistry knowledge, there should be no problems. In fact, go here --> http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/6113940/description.html Search in page 'dmso'. You shall have your answer.
And this for good measure:

You may now suck on my e-pen0r.

Re: Dmso + thc
Thank you Cuban I have wanted to see this post for quite a while now. I think all we need now is some willing experimenters. The only thing is that the second article made it seem like transdermal thc patches administer the drug slowly which wouldn't make it very fun. Its worth a shot though.

Re: Dmso + thc
Well, how quickly you absorb chemicals is controlled by a number of factors, including the solvent (oil/DMSO) and the size of the solute (cannabinoids in this case). DMSO would surely lead to a quick effect, peaking the blood plasma concentration of THC et all whereas oil would probably be absorbed, leading to a longer, less intense effect. If one was using oil as the carrier for better peace of mind, you could supplement your use with Tagamet HB (cimetidine, 800 mg ingested probably 30ish minutes before the oil's application). Tagamet inhibits your liver from breaking down cannabinoids. The enzyme that it inhibits, cytochrome P450-3A4, also regulates many other chemical systems in the body, so be sure to look up any potential contraindications for yourself, and don't consistently use Tagamet. This enzyme inhibition would give you more bang for your buck, so to speak, by allowing what has been absorbed not be broken down as quickly.

Re: Dmso + thc
Thanks for the informative posts, Cuban.
hydroponichronic: Im pretty sure aspects like that on transdermal patches can be engineered.
If people aren't afraid of getting sick or wasting weed, they will be more apt to try this.
