I'm trying to figure this out. I haven't been able to have a relationship in over 3 years. When I get to the point where I'm about to be in a relationship I tell the girl I don't want it to be official, that I just want to hook up. And they always want commitment. But I find a lot of girls to be boring, and I would rather do my own thing. I'm completely absorbed in my own life and content by myself, but I feel like I should leave some room for girls.

Am I just too selfish? Aren't my hormones supposed to overpower my selfishness?

Has anyone else gone through this? Is it that I haven't found the right girl yet, or maybe I'll just mature more? I'm 18 and a freshman in engineering at college. Or maybe, I'm just different and being single is for me?

You're 18 and a freshman in college. Why do you need a girlfriend?

Another response would be to just get a girlfriend and devote a little time to her each week. Pussy when you want it, although this might get complicated at some point.

Well... you're not in a relationship because you choose not to be. If you don't want a commited relationship than don't have one. You do not need to be in one. And maybe all these girls are just not interesting you, that is not selfish and it's better to tell them the truth than to drag it on forever.

Some people just don't want to be in a commited relationship, maybe you havn't found the right girl, maybe you want to enjoy your youth a bit before rushing into something life changing. There are so many options but only you know the answer in the end.

And....you're in college, there is no reason that you should be in a serious relationship. A lot of people choose the hook up route while they are in school. There is nothing wrong with that.
