Default Best way to buy gold?

With the massive amounts of inflation the US is facing I would like to invest in gold. I would exchange my dollars for euros but I don't thing the European economy is going to do much better in the near future. What would be the best way/place to buy gold?
I was thinking of buying several South African Krugerrands

You could go to any of the sites that sell gold directly to people who believe the dollar is declining in value (what a crazy thought )

For instance http://www.midasresources.com/Products.html

They're always advertising on the Alex Jones show. But I think gold is declining in value again. You should check any prices quoted against the commodity price of gold before buying.

Don't you think I should buy some type of gold bullion? I'm looking for the most liquid form of gold and I don't know how I would sell a chunk of gold

Post Re: Best way to buy gold?

A good public metals/metal buyer will buy your gold. They're around most every area. Pawn shops will too but they generally give you less. 24K gold is essentially bullion (.999) but it doesn't matter if it's a coin, a chain or whatever, it matters how much gold it has in it. Those $20 gold eagle coins are close enough to pure to be valued practically as such.

Watch out though, metal markets can be volatile and are often better for long term investment.

Holy shit, if that website is correct and I'm not misinformed, platinum CRASHED in value in the past months!!! holy shit!

Looks like you're right - it's less than half its value. I think it could be a good buy!

Check these graphs out

Exclamation Re: Best way to buy gold?

Wow, I knew platinum was like $2k this spring.... holy shit. Why the drop I wonder....

It seems most metals aren't exactly doing well. Without looking into it too deeply I might say that silver could be a good long-term buy as it shouldn't ever really go under ~$3-4 while it has potential to go right back up to 20 if not more. Good risk vs. reward there. Gold is 'ok' right now.... but I don't see it doing much of anything too soon... possibly another long-term investment. I highly doubt gold will dip much under 500... if that and it will probably go back over 1000 soon enough.

As for platinum... wtf??? Maybe I should get on that train.... some research is in order methinks.

What about diamonds people?? Those have seemed stable to my (albeit undereducated) mind.

platinum really does seem like the way to invest. I think I'll invest in 2/3 platinum and 1/3 silver.

Does anybody know a site where you can find a good place to buy from?

I think it depends on whether you actually want to buy the actual metal to have and hold in your possession, or buy options to buy or futures or whatever they call them entitling you to X amount of metal.

Does anybody know of a site where I can find stores that sell gold/platinum/silver locally?

I am looking at buying silver coins of 1 troy ounce for 13$ each.

Silver is only valued at 10$ right now, would this be a good deal?

Is it actually possible to buy silver at market price without spending over a grand?

Bulliondirect.com

They will lock in a price when everyone else is "sold out" and ship it at a later date. If the physical market isn't "sold out" you haven't called the bottom.

Good call on the Euro by the way. I've been listening to Joe 6 Fucking Idiot Pack pumping that dog of a currency for as long as I've been touting the Chinese Yuan.

Every time the EU lets in some shit hole country, the odds of OPEC choosing it over the yuan become even slimmer.

The writing is on the wall in bold letters.

Really I wouldn't trust any currency right now. The banking and monetary systems used right now just aren't sustainable. The global economy is gonna go through some major changes.

And I bought 100 1 ozt silver rounds the other day off of apmex.com. They have the best service around from what I can tell and some of the best prices. Wish someone had posted when I asked if those silver rounds were a good deal or not cause I really passed on a great opportunity (it would have been more like $12 and the coins were beautiful.) At least I learned my lesson.

And to anyone looking to buy pm's (precious metals) should really look into the retailer before they buy. In the shortages we're experiencing now lots of places are selling products they don't have.

Krugerrands are nice, but fuck em unless you got millions. You should buy 1/4 or 1/10 oz gold coins. When TSHTF, they will be excellent for bartering. Id much rather have 16 1/4 oz coins (4 OZ gold) than 5 one ounce krugerrands. Yeah the premium is a bit higher, but entirely affordable and defiantly worth it IMO.

Unhappy Re: Best way to buy gold?

Hell, the best way to make money from Gold these days would be to go out & find it!

Once you know what you are doing, a ounce a week is do able.
This is a bloody good idea in NZ as our NZ$ dollar is dropping against the US$.
NZ$ = US$0.55cents
(will probably go to US$0.50 cents, as the US gets better, The Kiwi drops)
The Gold price is the only thing thats going up these days.

You're going to need at least 5k to make any type of decent profit... Unless you have time to spare.

I recommend just buying 1oz (or less) of US Gold Eagle coins.

Their very simple, and can be sold FAST.

Buy from here

www.monex.com

get american eagles. they are good. i have them. this company doesnt report what they sell to people to the government only what they buy from people.

and when you want to cash the gold in for whatever the paper equivalent then go to a coin shop and most will pay you at spot. also they will give you cash so the government wo't know you ever made and gold transactions at all, and thus you avoid taxes on capital gains.
