Default DVD authoring tool

Anyone know any good DVD authoring programs for Ubuntu? I use k3b to burn DVD's but I don't think it has DVD editing features.

For someone who's been using linux for months now I'm probably pretty dozy to be only realizing this now but its insane how much better linux is to windows. People say Windows is superior when it comes to variety of software and shit but for linux theres programs to suit all your basic needs but where it differs from windows is its all free. IMO k3b burner is way better than Nero and Roxio for Windows and yet its free and you can download it straight from the repository so you don't have to go through all that filling out forms bullshit like you do just to get the trial version of those shitty Windows burners.

EDIT: I found a program called DeVeDe in the repositories and it has all the features I need but it takes about 3 hours to make a DVD menu.

Yeah, the last thing I need to do when I'm in a hurry to do something important is download 15 trial programs that don't let you do shit but look at the buttons that are greyed out. It's stupid.

You could also look on sourceforge.net or freshmeat.org
then do a search for "DVD authoring" or "DVD editing"

DeVeDe is good and I also used a program a while back called DVDStyler, I still have a tutorial bookmarked somewhere...

There you go. I've used DeVeDe since though and it's more feature complete. They'll all take a few hours though...just gives you time to go have a beer or two.

Actually yeah DeVeDe works perfect. It converts the videos into DVD format thats why it takes so long. Its way better than that Nero DVD maker bullshit I used to use. DeVeDe lets you compile videos into an ISO and throws in a menu for you. You can even edit the menu and put in any background you want.

Its insane how good the free programs are with linux. Even that GIMP image editor that comes with Ubuntu is good. Its like a compromise between photoshop and that shitty bitmap editor that comes with windows. Perfect IMO. Photoshop has way too many features you have to sift through just so you can crop an image and do a bit of smudging or airbrushing. Bitmap editor was just plain shit you couldn't even crop with it. Since I'm not a graphics designer GIMP has everything I need for editing images.

I think DeVeDe is the best.

Another option is ManDVD.
