Do the cops actually take time off your sentence if you agree to help them arrest and convict your source (talking big amounts of E, he won't sell anything under $1000 real sketch case) if you have been caught dealing or is it just a trick they try to pull then fuck you over anyway?

I think you can get a reduced sentence if you help bring your supplier to justice. TBH though it's probably not worth it if you're facing jail time for a few years. Ratting in a drug dealer always generates a lot of ill-feeling anyway. Not to mention said drug dealer could swear revenge, then you'd be in trouble. Big time drug dealers don't get to where they are from being nice guys.

Regular police and other non dea l.e. will not give you a break, they will lie to you about 90% of the time trying to get you to self incriminate or rat on others, and the best part is that after you say what they want to hear, you get a smirk and get left feeling like a biggest dumbass, details of your sentece reduction will not be spoken of, because there wont be any sentence reduction. That is up to judge if, unless like i said it is dea since their general interest is to bring down big ops not little guys. But as soon as they charge you and your in jail awaiting court then its too late.

Even if it did get you less of a sentence, your still a rat.... and that guy probably knows your name, he can find out where you live, who your family is and if he wanted to he could probably kill you without much more of a sentence anyways.... trafficking massive amounts of drugs might as well be a life sentence, why not add a couple murder charges onto the trafficking?

and even if he gets sent to prison, the guy probably has friends who could equally as easily fuck your shit up.....

prosecutors and maybe DEA agents are the ones who cut the deals, not cops... always have your attorney present when discussing this sort of thing....
