So, I hear there is this product called a menstrual cup that one places in their vagina to collect period blood. It's made from silicon, reusable, and can be worn for up to twelve hours at a time.

I've never heard of such a thing, and I must admit, it sounds intriguing. So my question is, do any of you ladies wear one or know someone who does?

I've considered it. I'm quite the eco-friendly granola crunchy sort and really would love to cut back on that waste that I produce every month. But .... ehhhh.... the thought of digging that out in a bloody mess. I think I'll allow myself the luxury of disposable with a string ;) I do know girls that use them and swear by them and say they are super easy and feel much more sanitary. I'm taking their word on that and sticking with what I have at the moment though!

Yeah, I mean, the concept seems pretty cool. No waste, and cheaper and supposedly more sanitary. But I mean...there are some things about my body I'd rather not deal with to a certain extent. And pulling a cup of blood out of my vagina is one of them. But who knows, maybe in the future it will be as common as other methods.

So basically it folds and is inserted like a tampon? And then everything is caught on the inside? That might not be so bad.

I fucking agree. It seems like something that is marketed toward fourteen year olds. I read somewhere that another company had been offering a free trial, but I can't find that. I wouldn't mind trying one if it was free.
