... just installed my first distro yesterday, eeedora, the fedora 8 based project for the eee pc and I like it a lot. I've always used windows in the past but considering the limited amount of hard drive space and the fact that I've been wanting to give the linux stuff a shot forever I though I might as well make the switch now. I want to actually learn this stuff so I thought it'd be best to go with a something hopefully a bit more true to linux than eeebuntu or some of the other alternatives. Maybe that's not true, just the impression I had.
Anyways, it's been fine so far. Skype, GIMP, deluge, open office, wireless, figured out how to download/configure all that, but I'm having quite a bit of trouble with vlc and the audio in general.
Eeedora comes with pulseaudio, but when I try and download vlc it says I first need some pulse audio files. I try to download the missing files, no luck. So I remove pulse and try and download it again, thinking this time it might come with the need dependencies.
Try and download pulse audio again and...
Error: Missing Dependency: pulseaudio-core-libs = 0.9.7-0.17.svn20071017.fc8 is needed by package pulseaudio
Error: Missing Dependency: libpulsecore.so.4 is needed by package pulseaudio
Soo I try and find the pulseaudio-core-libs-0.9.7-0.17.svn20071017.fc8.i386.rpm
and it tells me I already have something newer on my system.
What am I supposed to do?
Thanks.
