I'm getting my wisdom teeth (top 2) removed on the 12th. I've been thinking of getting an eighth to help out with the pain (I've been told it hurts like a mother fucker). I was told I can't smoke (cigarettes) or use straws because of the pressure it puts on the mouth, and can cause "dry socket" (which hurts like a bigger mother fucker). What if I smoke out of a pipe or bong? It doesn't cause any mouth pressure because your using your lungs to inhale, not your mouth like when smoking a cigarette or joint. Would this be OK? Anyone do it before?

It's fine as long as you don't suck with your mouth. You should be getting some opiates to deal w/ the pain...

your increasing your chances of getting an infection, fuck smoking your gonna have some opiods to have fun with

And mikey on the cereal box exploded after eating pop rocks and pepsi? It might irritate your mouth, but it won't cause you to bleed out.

IMO, might as well just wait it out... take advil. Save the opiates + weed.

Apparently I'm not getting anything short of a few ice packs. I will be "heavily sedated" the day of, so that should be fun, but nothing after that. Maybe I should make some opiates out of poppy seeds? :P

You will be able to smoke marijuana just fine, but don't overestimate yourself, you just had teeth removed. Just take it easy, smoke a bowl or two and relax. As far as the painkillers for post op pain, I doubt they'd let you leave with nothing, it seems pretty common practice for doctors to at least hand out a script for hydrocodone.

If they won't give you anything, tell them their stupid motherfuckers. Then go to a different dentist. If your feeling paranoid about a dry socket, smoke up your nose.

Its probably not worth the risk of dry socket or infection just for weed. At least dont smoke for the first 3 or so days.

Its a judgment call really, but for me a little ganj isnt worth the risk of dry socket.

I'm actually gonna use the weed to help the pain, but if the weed will cause more pain (ie. dry socket) than good, than I won't use it.

I didn't smoke for about a week after having mine removed. Mine were impacted so they had to remove a lot of bone and do a lot of work. It fucking sucked. I do not recommend just going with local anesthetics. TAKE THE FUCKING GAS. You do not want to be awake during this.. Those shots they give you don't even come close to completely numbing it. God it sucked so bad.

Anyway, the weed can definitely intensify the pain, so smoke it very slowly and if you roll a joint, roll it very loose so you don't have to suck hard on it. Just being high can intensify the pain and make it feel like your wounds are gonna explode.

But I'd say if you wait two weeks, the pain won't be too bad from smoking.

Have them fill the bong with smoke for you. Then you just simply inhale.

I smoked cigs the day I got it done and a bowl 3 days after I got it done. But it depends on whether or not the teeth are surfaced. If it's surfaced, there's gonna be a risk for dry socket. If not, they'll put stitches over it that won't cause dry socket.
