Default Heroin users(and abusers?)

So, for a long time I was scared at the prospect of being around a heroin user, talking to him, whatever. I suppose films like Trainspotting and Requiem for a Dream made an impression upon me that heroin users are dangerous and unstable. However, a few days ago I was at the opening of a headshop and there was a punk who had shot up - pupils dilated, eyes all fucked up, a calm demeanor, he sat down and nodded off every once in a while. And there I realised that heroin users are probably less dangerous than most other people or drug users. I mean, they just shoot up and kind of float through their life or their day, with a "doesn't matter" attitude towards everything.
So I suppose the question is - what do you guys think of heroin users, and abusers(as in junkies)? Is there a big distinction between the two? Will a junkie stab you for a few bucks and run off?
Just wondering...

lol, "makes no since" ironic

I understand what your saying, but i think only after they have shot up, they are calm. When the W/Ds kick in they are kicked into an insane state, pretty much. I wouldn't wanna be around someone with WD.

heroin user might not be so nice if he is in need of a fix badly.

There is definitely a distinction between users and junkies. Although all junkies start out as "users" and it goes from there but I know many people who have done quite a bit of heroin but aren't junkies.

I use it every once in a while but I'm nowhere near a junkie and honestly don't think I ever will be. I don't find the shit so incredible that I'd want to do it all the time. I mean it's fun as hell and feels great... but I have a life.

It is not like every one who users heroin goes through WD. You guys are an embarassment to BLTC to say something like that. This forum is about legalization and harm reduction combined with KNOWLEDGE.

Faggs.

BTW, OP is a liar, he thinks that your eyes DIALATE on heroin... lol. They constrict, asshole.

Damn, whats with all the hate? Yeah, I meant constrict, sorry about that. English isn't my first language, so whatever.
Anyway, yeah - I was also thinking that a junkie/user experiencing withdrawals could become crazed/unpredictable... So the logical thing to do would be to legalize it. I mean, cigarettes are addictive as hell and if they were illegal I could imagine nicotine junkies robbing people to get their "fix", but that isn't a problem since they are freely available and anyone can go to the corner store and buy some.. Anyway, goodnight. BlackPope, chill out.

WTF nicotine junkies? you seriously think that nicotine can even be compared to opiate withdrawals? opiate withdrawals are EXTREMELY PAINFUL, pure agony, pain in all joints and muscles of your body, so intense it is incapacitating, to the point that when you are withdrawing from serious opiate habbit you are not robbing people, you are stuck in your bed sweating, cursing, calling every number on you cellphone, missing work, school, your own wedding... But after that they could do some stupid shit to get their fix.

But no, "nicotine junkies" would not rob anyone, even if they smoke 20 packs a day while dippin, chewing and wearing a nicotine patch all at the same time.

I used to smoke for 2.5 years, about 10-15 marlboro reds a day, then i realized that im spending money on something that doesn't get me high and is worse to my helath than opiates and weed so I quit, just like that, now I cant stand being in a closed space with someone smoking it gives me like an alergic reaction, my nose gets really congested...

yea, a junkie is a pretty tame animal, as long as you don't mind the drool and the inability to have a conversation really...

but, opitude is a very real thing, and people with opitude do not act rationally...
