About a girl
I'll try to make this post as transparent and concise as possible. Normally, I like to leave my personal life off the Internet but I've been in a dilemma regarding this situation for a while. So here it goes..
I go to a state university on the east coast and I'm taking French courses to fulfill a minor. Last spring, there was a girl in my class who was really cute and a year younger than me. We would talk a lot during class, and for the most part I could keep her laughing pretty easily. She seemed like the shy, "girl next door" type so I figured I should definitely take it slow with this one. When exams started coming up I asked her if she wanted to study together, and she gave me her number. And we met up a few times to study together. During these study sessions, the conversation was pretty strong- hardly ever awkward moments and she seemed interested in what I had to say.
Considering how those times went, I decided to explore a little further. I texted her if she wanted to get coffee after class sometime (thinking about this now I probably should of been more direct about when). And received no response. I was little confused by this and during class everything was the same like it never happened. I figured I would try once more and asked her if she wanted to go out to lunch... and yet again she never answered me. Soon enough the semester was over, and summer was here. She lived close to where I live at home, but I figured it was my best interest not to pursue her any further, as my last attempts didn't go so well. So besides a few facebook messages we hardly spoke.
And now it's fall, and we happen to be in the same French class again. It's a pretty small class and we do a lot of group work. And it's alway me and her, so for 2 hours twice a week, we pretty much talk non stop. Things definitely seemed to get closer between us. And she also asked me if I wanted to do a pretty big project we can have a partner for in class (It's an oral presentation so we'll have to prepare with each other quite a bit for it). Then about month ago we had a pretty big party over here, and later in the night when I was a little drunk I told her to stop by. And to my surprise she did, and she was a little tipsy herself. I went out and introduced her to some people, and I could tell she was having a good time. But I never made a move on her, because I'm terrified she doesn't feel the same way and class will be ridiculously awkward from now till christmas. She stayed for about an hour and then left to go meet some friends and we hugged and she left.
(I'm getting the point of this wall of text really soon, I promise.)
Now 2 days ago, we had some kegs here nothing huge just a small gathering of friends, and I told her to come over. And she came with some friend of hers and we we're all talking having a really good time. She asked to borrow one of my sweatshirts and we talked for a bit longer and then she had to split and left. After she left she texted me "Thanks for inviting me :)" and then called me at like 3 am thanking me over and over again for her sweatshirt and how she really enjoyed seeing me. So my question is this: From what I've said in the past few paragraphs, does this girl like me? or am I stuck in some sort of really serious friend zone that is completely inescapable?
TL/DR version: Pretty hard to summarize all that shit into a few sentences. But basically- girl in one of my classes... I like her a lot. We would study together but when I asked her to do anything serious she would never respond. She came to some of my parties and we would talk and have a good time but I'm terrified she doesn't feel the way about me and I don't want class to be awkward with her, plus we're doing a huge project together so it would be extremely awkward if I tried to hook up with her and the feeling was not reciprocated. Should I just give up and be friends, or do you think she likes me but is too shy and I should be more direct?

Heck, that was after the TL/DR, it sounds like she digs you anyway.

Re: About a girl
I think you should take advantage while she hangs you out to dry. But you can't see her every night free... You do.

I think you need an easy friend with an ear to lend. Think she fits the shoe, but you have a clue.
Do you?

Re: About a girl
Whats the time frame of you having been talking to her?
Sounds like she either just thinks of you as a friend or shes one of those bitches where the only way to progress IS to make the move. Usually a girl will give you some obvious signs but then others, typically the ones who are nervous/shy give out barely any signs therefore you have to just go for broke.
Let me get this straight though, theres been no contact between you and her? hug/kiss or anything of that nature?

Re: About a girl
You might have a chance. She's just shy. Kiss her at a party or sometime when you've both had a bit.
Take her out to coffee after you get the kiss.

Re: About a girl
meh, she prolly is waiting for you to make the first move, but if not it could be one of these situations where when you are drunk (things are appearing closer than they are)...hmmm..ask her whats up with her/you if you wanna really know? Ask her where you stand or say ive been thinking of taking this "friendship" a bit further...gauge her reaction/your reaction from her reaction and there you go!

Re: About a girl
she seems shy, and the obvious drunk dial should let you know what the deal is. She wants your nuts dude, but she's waiting for you to do something about it. Fucking kiss her man, just wait for a good moment. If she turns you down, so what? Find a new partner for class.

I've been talking to her since last February, and yea the only contact we've had is the cliche parting "hug".

Re: About a girl
Go for it. Never know, it might happen.
Hell, i regret all the opportunities i passed up whilst i was at university to get with some girls i liked. Mind you, if i hadn't i probably wouldn't have the wonderful girlfriend i have now. But anyways, its true, trying and failing does beat the crap out of forever wondering.

This. I know how hard it is sometimes to throw caution to the wind and take a leap of faith, but push yourself. Don't think back to this in ten years and kick yourself for not taking a chance.
I actually need to follow that advice right now, and I'm finding it pretty difficult, so I can empathise (I'm trying not to be a hypocrite, but failing so far. wish me luck).
You know what needs to be done, and so do I.

Re: About a girl
Its all or nothing! If you do try, and fail, try not to be awkward, keep talking to her afterwords no matter how awkward.
And if you do nothing, you shall lead a life of regret! ( a bit extreme, I know)
Or make the move and succeed ftw and get her sexorz!:)

Re: About a girl
I see you made this post probably after reading my failure post lol ;)
But you are so much luckier than I am. I've been trying to pursue this girl, and she dropped me off completely.
At least you are able to meet, and talk with this girl. That's all I want to ever do.
Can you post a pic of her?
Anyways, what I am afraid is; (By the way you type), I think, she knows, that you are very smart. And she wants to be nice to you so that you can help her in projects, and she can do better in the class.
Some girls just flirt, when they don't really like you (they're not attracted to you).
I'm sure, she got those text messages, but I think it's rude she never responded. She may not like you enough.
Okay post a pic; and from that, we can tell what type of girl she is. I probably can tell, and see what type she is, and what you should do next. Some are the shy type, but some are the tricky type.

She's standing in your line, and she hopes you have the time. She'll pick a number too, and she'll keep a date with you.

You're situation is in essence what I'm afraid of. No offense, I didn't mean to make that sound like my situation is any better than yours. Neither of us are getting pussy so no one can really be winning amirite?
As far as her using me, because I come off as slightly more intelligent than the next guy -I've tooled around with this idea but it's never really stuck. For one pretty solid reason, she does excellent in school, she almost relishes in the fact that on some tests she will get a 1/2 point higher than I did. And to some extent she deserves it, she's a year younger than me and is only a semester behind me in my major (we're both econ majors/french minors). Which creates another point of attraction.
Oh, if you want to see her picture of her- this goes for anyone I guess- just drop me a message on aim and I'll share it. I'm just a little weary of posting it directly on totse. As unlikely it would be that she would ever drop in this thread, humans tend to fear the irrational more so than the rational. (My aim is in my profile btw.)

Re: About a girl
I realized I guess, that my topic was different in the beginning than yours so you weren't trying to copy me or anything.
By reading what you wrote and typed, you sound like a really good person. I don't think this girl is going to be important to you later down the road (maybe a couple more days)
Once you meet new girls, who are better looking (and you get a long well), then you will forget about this girl.
Wait, if she herself, is really smart, I know what is going on.
If you notice that she is not dating other guys (and you are sure, she is not interested in any one else), then her lack of response is because her parents want the best for her. And she is probably concentrated on her studies more than anything.
I know because I've talked to older people (25, 26) who faced this similar situation. Maybe try communicating more and find out what she's thinking? She may be honest with you.

Wait until after you aren't in classes together or grow a sack. Those are your two options, as far as I can tell.
Good luck, and remember: she's just a girl.

Re: About a girl
Finish the project, then BANG her in celebration.
Don't go for gold quite yet, cause either she'll reject you andd it'll be akward and your marks'll fail cause you won't be able to collaborate. Or else she'll be totally into it and you won't get anything done because any time you 'study', it'll be a study of her cervix.
Think with your big head, not your lil one. Don't let your academics suffer cause of your nasty primitive urges.
