Default Time to go home?

Hope this is in the right place.

Just a little background info. I had been living in small town Ontario for my last few highschool years. I really felt like i belonged. I was working on the farm saving up money to move out and go to college. I have had a life long dream of working in the film industry, telling stories, travelling and seeing the world. I finally had the money and was able to escape the grasp of the small towns iron fists and moved out to BC to attend film school. I finished it all off good grades and made some very decent films which one would win awards. Now paying off my student loan im stuck in a normal wage job working grave-yard shift at a factory.

Recently: On Thanksgiving for us Canadians October 13th, i phoned home to wish my family a happy holidays when i found out my dad was diagnosed with a serious case of cancer. Hes going in for surgery next week, but we wont know how bad it is until a while later. Essentially he could be fine right after, or have only a few months to live.

I had promised myself i wouldnt come back due to the fact of my two oldest siblings returning home in their mid and later 20's. I had took time off to go home and see my family for the first time in 2 years (im now 21) and it felt like home, right when i got there. I had lived in a small town for only 2-3 years before moving out here to BC which i have now stayed for 2 years. Its never really felt like home and i have gone through small bouts of depression for the first times in my life. Now im faced with a dilemma, should i stay here in BC as i had promised myself to do, or return home and help out the family and spend time with my dad. Im afraid of making the wrong choice and if it doesnt go well, regretting it.

Maybe i have already made up my mind, but im asking those who have possibly gone through the same situation, what i should do?

thanks, i think thats the mindset im going to take on. I booked my plane ticket home. my roommate im sure is going to be disappointed, it will be a pain in the ass for him to figure if he will find a new roommate or move on. my landlord will also not be too fond of the idea, as im in a lease. But i dont give a shit about the lease.

You will regret it much more if you don't cherish the time you have with your father. Life can wait. You seem fairly young, seeing as you are still paying off your student loans.

You got your whole life ahead of you, he may not.

Just go on home.
