Last week I got a pretty bad cold and I have been taking about 240mg of sudafed a day for about a week. I want to pop some adderall but I'm afraid it might not be that good because of all the sudafed. Has anyone here had a cross tolerance problem with sudafed and adderall?

its not like you took sudafed long enough to build a tolerance...so it shouldnt matter.

How long would I have to take sudefad at that dose to gain a tolerance then?

I doubt there is any sort of noticeable tolerance from a week of sudafed use and then popping some adderall.

We know that ephedrine, and its impotent bastard half-brother pseudoephedrine, reverse the reuptake transporter in noradrenergic terminus.

We know that amphetamine reverses the reuptake transporter in all catecholaminic termini - dopamine, noradrenaline, and adrenaline.

We know that anything which relies on vessicular storage is dependent on the plentitude of vessicular storage...

...SO, what WOULD theoretically happen is that you get full stimulation from the adrenaline, reduced stimulation from the noradrenaline, and full euphoria from the dopamine. In theory.

Frankly, ephedrine abuse could be kinda cool just to adjust the effects of later amphetamine use slightly. In theory. ;)

Unfortunately for theory, what actually happens involves that NMDA-gated Ca++ exiotoxicity in the nucleus accumbens is at least in part conditional to its role as a secondary messenger for NE in the amygdala... which means that, in practice, the "less edgy, moar euphoria" outcome only works if you've been practicing harm reduction like you should have been, at least with regards to an NMDA-antagonist neuroprotective. Otherwise, your dopamine floods forth like a virgin dome(head), but you are insensitized to it, and since your NE's not flooding forth, being depleted, you get...
