So i have a pretty bad staph infection that caused my left eye to become swollen shut, i went to urgent care and they asked how much pain i was in, with 0 people no pain and 10 being my worst life experienced pain and i said about 5.5. So they take my blood pressure and temperature. i go into the room and because im allergic to penicillin they only gave me a shot of steroids in my ass instead of an anti biotic injection. I was given bactrim, some anti biotic eye drop that i cant recall, some oral steroids for the next few days, and 20 demerol (100mg meperidine/650mg of APAP) if i remember correctly....

I took 2 and felt pretty decent. but from what i have read on the bottle and a search here, taking too much can cause severe difficulty breathing, and too much can be neurotoxic... anyone know the levels that it would take for this to happen?

Meperdine is probably ok for someone with no tolerance. I took 200mg and felt nothing....but I have a tolerance out the roof.

Oh, and If you plan on snorting it..be prepared. It burns like a motherfucker.

Demerol IV push is great. However at some hospitals, demerol can no longer be given IV push (only IM). The rationale is that the metabolic breakdown product (normeperidine) is neurotoxic and can cause agitation, irritability, nervousness, tremors, muscle twitching, myoclonus and seizures.

dude they give that warning for all opioids/ate. "Can cause severe respitory depression." " Can slow breathing"

Well the op has a formulation with apap in it so that is irrelavent and out of the question anyway.

I remember when they Gave me this when I was like 6 or 7. I broke my arm really bad and the asshole doctor was trying to set it. They tied weights to it and hung it off the side of the table. Then this jackass starts pulling on it while I'm screaming my ass off. After a couple minutes I started breaking out in hives, turns I was allergic to it and it didn't do shit for the pain.
