Still so hung up on her.
So back in April I met this girl. We started dating and things were great. They felt like they couldn't have been better. She broke up with me in September. I guess I was blind for the last two months of the relationship. I felt like I really loved her. I'd never felt this way about anyone else before. Anyway, after she broke up with me, I was pretty torn up for about 2-3 weeks.
After that I'd gone on a few dates with some girls, and had a few one night stands. And these girls were good looking girls. I mean so good looking I had a few of my friends ask how, me of all people, hooked up with them. I'm not quite sure myself but I did.
Anyway, I can't get my ex out of my head. I can't stop thinking about her, and what could've been, and all the good times we shared. Why can't I stop thinking about her? I mean, I felt better when I was with these other girls, but she's always there in the back of my mind. Why am I so hung up on her? What am I supposed to do?

Re: Still so hung up on her.
It's normal man. You'll slowly think about her less and less everyday until one day you realize you haven't thought about her in a month, year, etc.

Re: Still so hung up on her.
yeah well i still think about this one girl i haven't even seen for almost a year. haunts my dreams and whatnot. my suggestions are just do something not related to relationship/girls/sex that makes you feel good (not alcohol or drugs). Now is a great time to find out what some of your passions are.

How long do you suggest the no relationship/girls/sex thing? I really enjoy all 3 of those, but I want to forget her.

Time heals all wounds, is the phrase that describes things best. I broke up with my ex about 3 months ago, and we were engaged for almost 2 years. I still think about her, and I still can't believe she left, and the reasons she did. She still thinks about me all the time too, and she often calls me up to chat every now and again, which is really weird. Today she dropped off her engagement ring, and I seriously didn't even feel a thing. I just stared at it, thinking, WTF? Whatever, her new life is rather stupid, and half of her conversations with me are about how he's either pathetic in bed or really conservative and controlling. I have no pity for anyone anymore though. She made her bed, now she can sleep in it. Shit passes dude.

It won't be as bad as time goes on. Sometimes it can feel like life stops when that one person is gone, but it's not true. It just takes time

Re: Still so hung up on her.
Do jigsaw puzzles until you become obsessed with them. Maybe make a jigsaw puzzle out of a picture of your ex. Girls love guys who sit in their basement doing puzzles all day, so this will also help you in the future. As will seeing her face every time you acheive something.
Yeah, I really have nothing to offer. Occupy yourself elsewhere, find something to be passionate about.

Re: Still so hung up on her.
Man. It seems that every time things seem to get better, she somehow knows and it starts all over again. She likes hanging out with my family and was at my house for 3 fucking hours last night. She said she likes my family because when we were together she said it felt like she'd had a real family for the first time in her life. When we broke up she said that I wasn't the only one who lost something that she lost my family. Wtf is that? I just want her to leave me alone. Her coming around my family sure as hell isn't helping. I don't know what to do. Every time I see her I feel hate. Not hatred towards her, but what she did to me. I also feel all this emotion come flooding back. I can't deal it.
She says that she wants to be friends with me, but I just can't. I don't know how you could be friends with someone you shared your life with physically, mentally, sexually, and emotionally. How does someone not get overwhelmed with feelings when they see someone they've been with? I just don't get how someone can just let all of that go.

Re: Still so hung up on her.
What? She is still hanging with your family? That is BS. Tell your family how you feel (minus the details, just that you don't want her around) and tell her to stay away. That's pretty cruel of her. Sorry you are going through that. If she must keep in contact with your family she should have the decency to do it when you aren't around or aware of it. And your family needs to respect your feelings enough to be a part of this change, as well.
I agree, just don't date, stay away from girls for a while and find something else to occupy your time.

Everyone's telling me to find something else to do... I've got other things to do. I work at a Private Ambulance company, and I work 12 hour shifts. When I'm not doing that, I volunteer in my hometown. I've got something to do, Something I'm Passionate about, but what do I do when I'm done with that stuff? A squad run only lasts about 2 hours. Then I come home or back to the station and I haven't anything to do, so I think and it usually ends up back to her. Right now, I'm not able to get out much as my car is in the shop and the entire brake system is being replaced. I just don't know what I'm supposed to do here. I've tried to tell my family about it, but they all really like her.
The one thing that pisses me off the most is that she's hanging out with my younger brother(16) a lot. She called me one day and told me that there was nothing going on between them, but I still can't help but wonder. I hate it when she calls here or comes to get my brother. I hate how I get that feeling when I see her name on the Caller ID or see her pull into the driveway, and then I have to remind myself that she's not there for me anymore.

oh man, don't you see? she wants you but your too fucking clingy!!!! Grow some balls, and next time you see her remember she is just a human like any other girl and talk to her like the peice of shit she is and watch how she falls in love with you!
Then act really distant and cold and then nice on and off for a few weeks and she will be yours for ever! However by then you'll have lost all respect for her and prolly not like her anymore but hey......you can shag her whenever you want lol

Re: Still so hung up on her.
Eww I feel just sick for you. That sucks, I feel your pain. I have no idea what to tell you. Time is the only thing to hold on to. I just don't understand why your family can't respect your wishes no matter how much they like her. It isn't like you were married or had kids together to the point where she became a part of your family. I had a boyfriend in high school once who sort of did what your ex is doing, but he had the decency to come around when I wasn't there and my mother did eventually tell him he should just move on and stop coming around so much. That sucks for you. Time will heal.

How am I being clingy? I'm not talking to her or anything. I'm not trying to make things work out anymore. I'm only talking to her in normal conversations that occur as to not be rude.
I'm pretty sure that she doesn't want me. she's told me that there's no chance that we could ever be together again.

Re: Still so hung up on her.
Sometimes it takes longer to get over someone. It depends on who you are. Some people do it in a month others a year. What you need to do is tell yourself that it will happen. And one day, when you least expect it someone will come into your life that makes you happy again. Just remember you will probably meet a lot of asses on the way there.
And if the relationship is over, tell her it is over. Tell her you do not want to see her, and your family should respect that as well. You will never move on if she keeps coming back in. Some girls like to do that, to make you want them just to remind you that you can not have them. Kick the bitch out on her ass the next time she comes knocking.
