Default Changing the default group for new files

I am setting up a ftp server and I was having trouble with different accounts viewing each others files. It is a proftpd server, and all users share the same directory. All the users belong to the group 'ftpuser,' and this would allow everyone to view everyone else's files if the group ownership is 'ftpuser.' My problem is that new files have the username as the group also, for example, if I make a file it will be owned by diamondx:diamondx, instead of diamondx:ftpuser like it should. How can I fix this? None of the users will every login into a shell, they will just be accessed via ftp.

See the above URL for the directives list.
Try: GroupOwner

It states it will set the group for new files and directories.
If you have a live FTPd you may be able to restart the ProFTPd or give it a HUP signal to re-read the configuration without killing any active connections.
