Getting wisdom teeth removed, what meds?
I'm going to get my wisdom teeth pulled in a month or two and I'm wondering what painkillers to ask for. I'm thinking of going with oxycontin or percacet. Is this a good choice?

Re: Getting wisdom teeth removed, what meds?
LMAO u cant go in there and request shit. Especially if your a kid...
When i got my tooth pulled(normal)..he says well how are you tolerant to pain? I can sign you up for some tylonel with codeine or if needed i can get you something stronger he says. I sit there silent as my dad was with me...plus i was blown out from the numbness. Then he mentions hydrocodeine, i said hey doc if thatll work for me and itll do the job sign me up for the hydrocodeine. Got the script.....

Re: Getting wisdom teeth removed, what meds?
I'm going to tell him about how I was prescribed codeine once and it made me puke and that viks don't relieve any pain for me. After that I will kindly request some perks or oxys.

Re: Getting wisdom teeth removed, what meds?
I would ohnestly not mind knowing how many threads identical to this there have been. I would give an extremely in deph answer but ma tired and yah. If in canada T3's are easy and probably percs but vics are never given. It also depends on how many teeth are busted out.

Re: Getting wisdom teeth removed, what meds?
Depending on the doctor you'll be getting anything from T3's to Vics...on RARE occasion some people get Percs but don't hold your breath.
Also, you're "plan" made me lol. If you do that you'd better hope your doc either A. Is an idiot or B. Has a sense of humor

Re: Getting wisdom teeth removed, what meds?
My girlfriend got perks, and she also got valium the day before to 'relieve anxiety'
If you play your cards right you can probably score some of the 5/500 perks, but dont count on it. Probably hydro or T3's, as for oxycontin- no fucking way.

Smoke a ton, and when the clots fall out and you get dry sockets, request the hardcore stuff.

Re: Getting wisdom teeth removed, what meds?
You won't be gettin oxy for wisdom teeth. Also, you don't get to request anything. You can, however, go back and say it's too weak.

Re: Getting wisdom teeth removed, what meds?
I got 4 wisdom teeth taken out at once a couple years ago.
I got 20 something 5/325 of percocet.
Although there are some doctors who will REFUSE to give you any opiate. When I got a root canal my dentist gave me 7.5mgs of hydrocodone in total 30 day supply... On the other hand the oral surgeon ...whoever did my root canal refused to give me anything and just told me to take tylenol. Depends on the doctor..
Edit: They dont have to give you crap if they dont want to and asking for it probably will just turn them off from giving you anything.

Re: Getting wisdom teeth removed, what meds?
I really fucking hate the horrible pain that comes with the teeth being removed. Other than that. (2)5 mg hydrocodone/500 APAP 4 times a day then (2) 7.5mg hyd/ 500 APAP 4 -5 times a day. then cold turkey. now if i can get an opiate or opiate like substance (kratom, hydrocodone) i love it

Re: Getting wisdom teeth removed, what meds?
First, OxyContin is not indicated for acute pain. It is only prescribed for someone that requires around-the-clock opioid analgesia for an extended period of time -- i.e. chronic pain. You most definitely will not get an OxyContin prescription for wisdom teeth removal.
Second, asking for opioid painkillers by name screams 'drug-seeking behavior' and will most likely result in getting a prescription for 600mg or 800mg ibuprofen tablets.
The best you can really hope for is Vicodin ES (7.5mg hydrocodone / 750mg APAP), or possibly Percocet (5mg oxycodone / 325mg APAP).
Your best strategy IMO would be, if the oral surgeon asks about your pain tolerance, to say that a few years ago, you broke your wrist or something and was given a prescription for codeine by the ER doctor, and that while it worked pretty well for the pain, it made you very itchy. You'll probably get a script for Vicodin by doing this.
BTW, I am a chronic pain patient and have learned how to 'jump through the hoops' when it comes to being prescribed opioid painkillers. I've worked my way through all of the obstacles and currently have a steady prescription for high dosages of MS-Contin (extended-release morphine sulfate -- OxyContin but with morphine instead of oxycodone) for around-the-clock pain control and Roxicodone (immediate-release oxycodone) for breakthrough pain. I know what I am talking about, and I firmly believe that what I stated above is your best bet to get what you want.

I got percocets. You'll probably get 5 mg percs, 20 with no refill.

Re: Getting wisdom teeth removed, what meds?
When my now ex girlfriend broke her collarbone, they gave her 5/500 Hydros, the same as I was given when I had a cut cornea (think papercut on your eyeball). The only difference was they gave he a lot more of them. And a refill.
If you end up getting hydrocodone, take that and be glad you got something with at least a hint of fun to it. That seems to be the most commonly prescribed painkiller for more mild things.
