Salvia?
I'm planning on getting some salvia this week and I've never smoked it before. I've read that you need a butane/torch lighter to smoke it. I'm planning on getting a zippo, and am wondering if this is true or not. If it is, I'm getting a zippo BLU, else wise a normal one. I don't want to be chunned out of like $40 for a zippo I can't use on salvia, so can anyone justify this for me?
Cheers,
-Mike

Re: Salvia?
zippo i believe gets less hot than bic, so just get a bic. its cheaper, and works good with smokables other than cigs.
you dont need a torch lighter holy shit why does everybody think this. ive broken through many times not once using a torch.

Re: Salvia?
Don't get a zippo. A zippo does not provide a 'torch' flame, but rather a regular one [a zippo works by burning a wick soaked in naptha]. Just get a cheap torch lighter. An make sure you use a bong as well.

Thats probably true. I did some 5x once with a bic and it worked fine. But considering you can get a torch for like $1 more I'd definitely buy one if I spent the cash on some 20x or something.

Re: Salvia?
You can smoke salvia with a bic but you have to keep the flame on it the entire time, just get a cheap butane torch.
zippo's are going to give you less heat because they are a wick burning naptha.

Re: Salvia?
It'll work but it'll be less effective. I've broken through with a glass pipe and a gas station lighter, but a culinary blow torch and a bong works best.

Re: Salvia?
All you need to use salvia is salvia smoke, that's it.
That said, bic lighters are fine, some probably like using torch for the hype.
And a bong is easier, because you get more smoke at once, which is what you need with salvia.
The only thing you really need, is to hold the smoke in for 30 seconds. If you don't hold the smoke in for a good amount of time 15-30 seconds, you won't break through, and if you don't hold the smoke in at all, you barely or won't get high.
And btw, the high is many things.
At first you notice a sensation of being pulled off to the side, they call this "salvia gravity", you literally start to lean over to one side, wondering why no else can feel this. Then your perceptions begin to narrow, not being able to remember what you're doing or why you're doing it, looking down at your shoe in this beginning state you will forget where you are and when you look back up at the room will be shocked to realize that you are actually in the middle of doing something (prepare yourself at this moment for what comes next).
Usually, the body sensations will spread from a gravity type pull, to feeling like your consciousness is actually physically (spiritually?) exiting your body through this "perception", in this time you'll usually go out.
That can happen by either "going in between" objects in your immediate vision, for instance seeing a row of chairs and entering into the space between the chairs and the space between that space etc etc, until you get into a world of objects built upon a repetitive, extremely colorful, and two-dimensionally simple, yet oddly consciously active space which seems to exist "between" or "to the side of" this world.
Or you will simply black out with your vision switching directly over, with a small blank in between, to a dream world or a world of shapes and colors.
You can't communicate with anyone at this time.
Your consciousness is light years away from the state you were in when you inhaled the smoke, and it will seem like you will return in light years from the "now" moment that you reach in the void in time and space that you go to on salvia.
Basically, for most people it's a mind-flup and you really have to know what you're getting into to be able to enjoy it and do it again.
Just make sure you take enough, usually just a little pinch of 20x or about a small bowl of 5, but don't over do it the first time. This post can't explain anything but a vague dream of what the salvia experience is really like. You might lose all 3-dimensional perception thinking you are a flat entity stuck "within" a two-dimensional slice of reality/time, seeing your entire history behind you with your future ahead of you. Knowing more than seeing./rant
It's just too much to try to explain. And it all happens in a few minutes.

Re: Salvia?
ate you always know how to explain things perfectly. I remember back a while ago seeing you a lot in Paranoid Delusions when it still existed. Good times.
Reading that post reminded me of this time when I was new to salvia and I bought some 5x and smoked a bowl of it on a bench and suddenly my frontal lobe itched so I walked down the street and there were all these stores to my left and the street was to my right and I felt like I was walking within a folding piece of paper and the corner where the sidewalk met the buildings was literally folding on top of me like this---|<|----. I don't know how to explain it but I tried.
And then this one time I was looking at 2 houses across the street from where I was sitting and they started flashing red and blue alternately and there was this Mexican woman singing some strange song to me in my head.
I love the smell of salvia it makes memories of trips like that run through my head again because one thing I distinctly feel when I'm tripping on it is the taste of the freshly smoked salvia leaves on my breath. God I love it.

Re: Salvia?
Okay Bic's work, Zippos might be a little hard to light the bowl with, just use a bic, or a torch, a torch so that you can just blast all the Salvia into a quick fat hit, hold it in, and prepare for a total mind fuckyour mouth will feel so fucked up, its like your tongue doesn't belong in there or something. Also try and use a bong, or a pipe that you will never use again because this shit tastes nasty and the taste stays in the bowl for a long time. And as for that butane torch, make sure that you have somebody else who can grab your pipe and that torch because you'll be feeling this shit before it even leaves your lungs. Make sure your not alone.

Re: Salvia?
I've broken through with a bic and an aluminum foil bowl of foliage in a water bottle bong that wasn't completely sealed off at the downstem. Ate is right, you just need to inhale the large amount of smoke in a short amount of time and hold it in for awhile, nearly everything else is irrelevant.

holy shit dude. this happens to me every time when i do it. i never knew how to explain that effect into a sentence, but you perfectly described what happens to me/you.. one time i was on this slide at a playground and i imagined multiple slides in rows everywhere to the left and right to me and i was in the middle of it all., i didn't actually SEE it but it's like i felt/saw it in my brain, it makes no fucking sense. then again one other time i looked at a pole, the pole turned into a conveyor belt, i then "merged" with the conveyor belt and felt as if my body was being slid across a conveyor belt to god knows where. "merging" with objects is about the only hallucinations i get on salvia, most of it is just a strong dissociative mind fuck...btw this was all done on 6.5x mixed with leaf.....i've also noticed the reverse tolerance to be true. i used to not be able to feel anything on 10x and now i can actually breakthrough on leaf , which i wasn't able to at the start. salvia is fucked up, i always say i'm never going to do it again, because it's really not enjoyable AT ALL, but the thing that really keeps me coming back is the really fucked up experience and just how interesting it all is, even though it can get kinda scary.
