Hi, this is my first time posting here. I was busting up my weed and i noticed a lot of black flecks coming off of the bud. Does anyone know what this might be?

Do the black specks look and feel like sand? It could be silica, in which case you shouldn't smoke that weed.

Edit: Never mind, it was just flecks of really dark weed that was coming off the bud.

Sometimes dealers, or suppliers higher up the chain, add little chips of silica or sand or ground glass, dusting the weed in it. This gives the weed the appearance that its covered in crystals & therefore of higher quality, or makes the weed heavier.

Smoking ground glass or whatever isn't much fun. Speak to your dealer if he's a cool guy, or just do an extraction; BHO, make cannabutter, (filter supremely well) green dragon...

Edit : fair enough, I was a little perturbed, having never heard of black or dark adulterants added.
