Getting the experience back [weed]
Background: I'm 17 and a senior in HS.
My first experience with weed was 20 Apr '07 and, unlike many first times, it wasn't very good. My next few experiences occurred on a month-long summer vacation from my normal life. I did a summer program during which our only obligations were to go to class in the morning and be in the dorm building by 11p. I was with a totally new group of people and only a few of us knew the city. I made the acquaintance of a local stoner girl who knew the streets (smoke spots, places to chill, etc) and had my first real highs.
After that, I didn't smoke again until October. After my school's homecoming, my friend and I bought 6 grams of some good weed. We smoked maybe twice a week and that weed lasted us until Winter Break. We used a cheap metal pipe or home-made bongs and my parents had no idea that I smoked. Those were my best experiences with weed to date.
Here's an example:
I had one of the best nights of my life smoking that weed. My favorite way to spend time alone is to walk and explore my surroundings on a cold winter night. On a friday or saturday in late October or early November, my parents were going out for the night and I was alone. I rolled a lousy joint, found my iPod (which I normally don't bring on walks), and headed out with my dog. I stayed out for at least two hours, at which point neither I nor my dog could tolerate the cold.
The walk was amazing. I explored my neighborhood and went far beyond my usual walk routes. I walked over to a nearby golf course, from which I had a commanding view of everything. I was astounded by everything nearby. I loved the feeling of the cold, the way the sodium-vapor lamps cast their harsh, orange light on the pavement, and the feeling of being out in the world on my own. The moment everything hit me is burned in my memory. I was walking through the grass behind a small school, looking to my right, and listening to Apollo 440's "Rope, Rapture & The Rising Sun."
The Point:
I was a near-daily smoker from February until just recently. Since the time I made it a habit, weed has become less and less fun. I can only name a handful of times in the past few months that being high has been fun. I made my decision to quit less than three weeks ago and I intend to stick to it for a while. I'll resume smoking eventually, once I feel comfortable without it. I'll keep my use occasional and my only hope is that weed becomes fun again.
Any comments?

Re: Getting the experience back [weed]
Well not too long ago, there was a thread about this, getting that early high back.
Couple of people had tried simply staying away from weed for a while, a month or two. Apparently it was pretty efficient, the high they got after this was pretty fun.

Re: Getting the experience back [weed]
Those first few highs are the best but after a while you begin to anticipate the buzz and it can grow old (for some people). If you're smoking pot for that intense first time high then you won't find it as good the 100+ time but I find it enjoyable because I have learned to use it as a nice edge to my normal day.

I like to sit outside at night with my ipod and a joint reading some hightimes. Very relaxing to me.

A started smoking after about a month break because my dealer moved so I had nothing and it used to take a whole blunt to get me reasonably high but when i finally got more weed I went and rolled a blunt, smoked half of it and was stoned off my ass, I was standing in a hardware store near my house picking up some things and I felt as if I had to just sit in the middle of the aisle on the floor because I couldnt stand any more. I didnt think that my tolerance would drop that much so yeah if you just want to get really high again just quit for a bit.

Re: Getting the experience back [weed]
I honestly can say if I had to pick one drug out of everything in the world, it would definitely be weed. I never get bored of it, and I have been smoking about 3-5 times a day for the past 3 years.

Agreed dude. I do admit that I don't think I could ever get as high as I did when I first started smoking, but I prefer to not smoke every day. I tend to smoke at least twice a week, without even really trying, it's just how it works out. Twice or so a week I'll think "Today would be a nice day to get a sack and smoke" and I'll usually just smoke it by myself and chill out at my house, it keeps me sane.
