Vitamins to Recover from no sleep
I didn't sleep tonight, what foods could I eat, or vitamins could I take, to keep me feeling at least somewhat alert. I have Excedrin with caffeine in it, should I bring them along to school. Or just any other source of caffeine. (dumb idea, but I have a tendency to sleep in class).
I had a week long pill planner with my adderall in it, and I snorted 45mg. Basically I am going to see if the horribly lethargy I get from skipping a dose is reversible within days, because it is hellish. An experiment of sorts.

Re: Vitamins to Recover from no sleep
Personally I'd just stay away from Caffeine. I know that all people are different but it ultimately makes me feel 'foggy' and kinda out of it.. especially if you've been without sleep for over 24 hrs. Of course, a few Excedrin aren't going to do that to you, I was just making a general statement there.
Have you ever tried the 5 hour energy shots? They are all herbal and actually work quite well for some. On the flip side, some people don't get much of anything at all. The simple fact that you don't feel all 'hungover' and/or you don't hit rock bottom and feel exhausted like you caffeine or energy drinks makes it worth a try. There are a few different types so you may wanna experiment with different ones. I'm not sure entirely how they differ or if they differ at all.
Vitamin B12 is also supposed to provide you energy.
Edit: I just found this:

Water-soluble vitamins include members of the B complex (thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, folic acid, vitamin B12, pantothenic acid, biotin) and vitamin C. Most water-soluble vitamins support enzyme systems in the body but are excreted daily. Vitamin B3 and Coenzyme Q10 supplementation can contribute to your health and overall energy and stamina. The active coenzyme form of Vitamin B6, PLP is importance for human metabolism. It plays a vital role in the function of approximately 100 enzymes that catalyze essential chemical reactions in the human body necessary for energy production.

Here is the source. There's some more info there as well.

lol, actually no. SWIM (:P) is just on some Fent and sippin on some Sizzurp. I just started typing and ran with it.
Yeah, a multi-B would be a great way to start. Another thing you can do is just check out the ingredients of certain Vitamins/Multi-Vitamins, write them down and go on the interwebs. Not to look up what they're labels say they do but rather some of the experience reports on Erowid or found through google. I'm saying that because I'm sure there are quite a few other vitamins/sups that improve overall energy and vitality.
Good luck bro

Re: Vitamins to Recover from no sleep
Ok I just ate a serving of cereal that had pretty much the equivelant of a mult-vit in it. All my actual multi-vits are 5-8 years expired. Now I'm having a banana. Anybody else got ideas?

Re: Vitamins to Recover from no sleep
No need to bitch at me I'm not a tweaker, just didn't feeling like wasting all that adderall! If I can keep alert during the day without adderall, and not tell my doctor, I get to keep adderall for fun times, and still succeed in school! I believe I am one of the few people who ACTUALLY has some kind of ADD or ADD like symptoms with something else.
Thats why I'm doing this.

Re: Vitamins to Recover from no sleep
Short of more stimulants, there really isn't any cure I'm aware of.
I'm often in your situation, and I wish there were a way out of it. A nap for an hour or 2 makes a surprising difference - if you can fit it in.
A good meal and a multivitamin won't hurt, but you won't notice any drastic changes in alertness.

Re: Vitamins to Recover from no sleep
when i'm in that situation, i'll usually take 100 mg 5-htp with an orange and a glass of water, then take a shower followed buy a bowl of nutritious cereal and 500mg of l-tyrosine and 100 mg of b6. it helps greatly, but come bed time i'm out like a light.

You aren't just going to be like "ZING" and feel way better. You've got to keep to a regiment for a while (a week or so) before you'll be having noticeable results. If you're like me you prefer instant gratification. When going this route you've got to leave those feelings behind and be patient.

Re: Vitamins to Recover from no sleep
It is easy to think that just because you feel better after you eat, that everything is "A-Ok". The cells of one's body/brain take time to repair & grow. Just as an injury that you can see or feel on your skin or in your muscles does.
It's way better to eat 2.3 crackers or a 1/3 of an orange, 3 ounces of OJ or 2 or 3 bites of beef jerky than nothing. A little now...a bit later. A short sleep is better than none. Though I know that when I'm really tired & hungry a bit of sleep might tempt me to stay up way longer than I should.
Science ( apparently...) shows that some healing/repair/growth only happens during deep REM sleep. Thus: you can only recover totally with sleep. A short, deep sleep can really help. I know that when really burned out, I sleep so quickly and deeply for an hour or two that I become wide awake. The trick seems to be to eat a little more (not too much!!!), not stay up too long!! & go back to sleep.

Re: Vitamins to Recover from no sleep
something that really charges me up is warm water with real maple syrup, cayenne, ginger and lemon. believe it or not it's filled with minerals and the citrus helps your body absorb water, as well as being rich in vitamins too. wheat grass juice is awesome as well

Re: Vitamins to Recover from no sleep
both of the people above me don't know what the fuck they are talking about(sorry moony).
Physical recovery happens in restful(slow wave delta) sleep not the rem stage, REM gets cycled repeatedly after slow wave delta sleep is reached....
and calusa
What minerals is your wonderful tea full of?
Depending on the amount of lemon... i can see some C....That's it.
And wheat grass is absolute New-Age hippy bullshit, without any scientific backing....
Edit: and WST.... your incessant drug binging, and unrestrained use of drugs including hallucinogens and random RC's at your young age WILL catch up to you.....
So stop bitching unless you are willing to adapt a healthy lifestyle....

The stimulant use isn't really for fun, I don't like uppers that much.
I am actually quite cautious about my use of psychedelics, including RC's.
And this whole fucking thread is about me adapting to a healthy lifestyle, as in focusing in school without amphetamines, just with healthy sleep scheduling and good diet. You can't really judge my lifestyle based on what I post in a forum dedicated to drugs, then all you see about my life is the parts pertaining to drug use.

Re: Vitamins to Recover from no sleep
I just recently got prescribed Adderall and I have some advice for being responsible with it in regards to mind rejuvination. I use to do very unhealthy binges on it in Highschool but now that I have self-discipline they work wonders.
Before bed I eat something nutritious, even if it just coats my stomach, I try to make sure it's some kind of meat with fat or a fruit because after that I take a men's formula centrum and it's questionable how well all those vitamins actually absorb. They're certainly in the pill, they just dont put much of anything in it to actually get the vits/minerals in your system. I might take some B-6/B-12 or 1mg of Vitamin C along with that, make sure I'm hydrated then put 2 sublingual melatonin under my tongue to ensure I reach deep restful phases of sleep. Other than that just turn off the TV, lights, any distractions that will keep your concious mind focused need to go, shut down that concious mind completely and get deep into some rest.
Rule of thumb. If you're hungry or dehydrated your body as a safety mechanism won't shut down and go to sleep until it gets what it needs to heal. If you lay in bed for 3 hours exhausted but not falling asleep you might just need to go eat an apple and take a multi-vitamin (at the very least) before you shut down.
For the lack of appetite addy causes I would suggest eating 2 or 3 eggs with butter (not margarine). It's light on the stomach, goes down easy, you get your protein, lots of good vitamins (B mostly i believe), and the butter helps all the nutrients absorb better whereas margarine doesn't and is just nasty shit that's bad for you.
Hope that helped, stay healthy.

But ^^^ it's so much fun to be functioning at half-speed for hours & hours because you're "too tired to eat & too hungry to sleep"?
