in all honesty I think confidence comes first, beauty second. As long as you are not physically deformed, you should be able to get a girl.
and that's my problem, tons of people compliment on how good I look, yet for some odd reason my confidence and self esteem is in the shitter.
It seems I should not be giving you advice on this since I am on the same boat, but I've seen it work...I ask my self, "how is that ugly motherfucker with a girl? yet here I am, I could be the greatest guy in the world and I don't have one".
I am improving, slowly but I am happy with how far I am getting.

A little confidence helps. Looks aren't everything. If you're thinking "god I'm so ugly" all the time people can tell. It doesn't mean you have to be cocky. Just be yourself. I'm not superhot either but in the past I've been able to get dates by finding people I have things in common with like music or hobbies. It takes time, don't rush it.
