Default Methadone withdrawal

I've been on a constant dose of methadone for over two years. I took my last 1/2 pill two days ago. I attempted to control the withdrawal with valium, but that has failed. I feel like shit no matter what. Sick as a dog, chills, muscle spasms, and I just don't feel comfortable in my own skin. When is this going to end, and is there anything non-drug related that I can get some help from?

Thanks in advance.

dude. If it has been 2 days it hasn't even started yet unless you have a fast metabolism. Methadone builds in the system over time if dosed daily. Meaning you still have methadone running through your blood. I took methadone for a month and a half and it took me 5 days to even start to feel withdrawals.

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that is how it is. if you go back to it, it will just be worse the next time you try to quit. if I were you I would switch to a short acting opiate/oid and then stablize(become dependant on that) and then try to quit. For me the acute withdrawal from methadone was not at all as intense as from more short acting opiates like morphine but it was very long and drawn out.

How long will it last? It could be a week, half month, month, or even a year for methadone maybe longer. the acute withdrawal will probably last 14days to 1month. My general rule of thumb for mdone is that for as long as you took it that how long before you will feel 100% normal. Im not saying you will be in acute withdrawal for a year but you may not feel 100% for that long or even longer due to post acute withdrawals. It varies from person to person. you should have known what you were getting into before you started it. some people get off mdone and still have PAWS or post acute withdrawals six years after they quit.

Yeah be careful with that.

Op I would switch back to a short acting and get dependant on that. Then quit.

Actually things turned out pretty well, I'm off opiates. I got some suboxone in the end because things where getting horrible. But I'm off that too.

I feel better now then I have in years. Food tastes better, sex feels better, and I don't have that constant need for opiates following me around. I do not recommend methadone for any circumstance, whether it be severe pain or heroin withdrawals. Let this be a warning to anyone thinking of experimenting with this awful drug; any pain it helps relieve, it will return three fold. That's my experience anyways, so take it with a grain of salt.

Ouch i know how it feels bro, its horrible. Stay away from the opiates thas the number one thing u need to do. No matter what, Wait it out till you feel better. Once you relapse, Your fucked twice as hard as before.

I went from 15mgs up to 55 back down to 8mgs and went cold turkey..

Withdrawls lasted 2 months, at the same pace. I wouldnt get better for some reason. Eventually i had to start taking a few percs for my back pain so i could sleep at nights. Then from percs back up to oxies. Then i ended up in rehab... 1 year later... Lol so as u can see methadone was not the way to go. Anyways, Best way to deal with it is go to ur doctor tell him/her that you are going through methadone withdrawls they'll usually perscribe you an anti-depressant/sleeping pill i got clonazepam 2mg's twice a day. Helped alot for the 2 months i was withdrawling with the sleep and with the depression of wanting to use somekind of drug. Plus it makes u somewhat drowsy at a high dose, so it feels kinda like a nod except no mental addiction, atleast not for a while untill your addicted to the klonepins.

Good luck bro.

Yeah sex on opiates is worthless. It's hard to get into it mentally and sometimes when I'm really faded I can't even feel anything. For a while I was getting worried like I had ED or somethin. Than I realized it was just the drugs, once I stopped taking them on a regular basis I would have a boner all day and cum in 5 seconds. EEK!

Clonazepam is not an antidepressant. if anything it is a depressant. it is a anticonvulsant, muscle relaxant and anxiolytic.

and did you read what he said, it turned out ok.

Yeah thinking back Ibogaine could of helped, but I don't buy about how it is billed as addiction interrupter. To me addiction was more then the drug itself. Then again I've never taken it, so I can't really comment on it's effectiveness.

They say that's actually where Ibogaine shines. On the biochemical level it restores all the receptors to their original state (or some mumbojumbo to that effect)

But basically everyone says that the psychedelic experiences you go through during the 'treatment' are very introspective and learning and most people actually see their whole life in front of them and can pinpoint the exact reasons for their addiction.

But Im glad things worked out for ya :)
