Retinal Scanner for Probation (Help?)
So apparently my county is using this new thing, it's a retina scanner you put your face up to and it measures your pupils and shit to find out if you've been getting high. I just got arrested a couple weeks back and it looks like I'm gonna be doing like 18 months of probation and I'd like to know what I should expect, but googling doesn't yield much. The reason I'm asking is because I'm drunk right now and I don't want to fuck up my baseline. A couple weeks ago I got busted for selling weed to an informant but I'm not on probation for a few more days. If anyone has any information, I'd really appreciate it.
Also, I see that Meta is still a Moderator. Crazy shit. I haven't been around in years and he's still keep'n it gangster.

Re: Retinal Scanner for Probation (Help?)
i dont see how the thing would work. your pupils can dialate due to changes in light....still, it seems alot easier to tell them you were in a bright room then to have to try and pass a UA

Re: Retinal Scanner for Probation (Help?)
I think is tests how fast your pupils react to light. When you go to the request that they give you all the info on it. It may be made by some shitty company that just lied their ass off to sell their POS product.
I read an article recently on a company that sold lie detectors to police departments, claiming that they were near 100% accurate. A bunch of stations bought them and began prosecuting people with them, until they found out the machines more or less just randomly showed true or false.

A good defense attorney going to bat for a probationer post violation would have a fucking field day with that thing.

Re: Retinal Scanner for Probation (Help?)
Officers are trained to do this anyway in the field. That is what that little card is for with different pupil sizes that they hold up next to the users face and compare. They have you stare at a glowstick(in a dark room) at the station and then flash light into the eye to check the reaction of the pupil. If the officer is trained correctly it is pretty darn accurate. It is nothing they have not been doing before.

You could just say you don't want to do the test^ They can't make you stare at a glow light.
What the fuck?

In a dui situation that will cause you to lose your license for 90days and get booked. In my case i got a ride home from the cop, made it to work the next day(woulda lost my job), and got to keep my license. So it was worth it to cooperate in that case.

Re: Retinal Scanner for Probation (Help?)
Sweet. Well, it looks like alcohol will be out of my system by a few days by the time I go in, so I'm not too worried anymore.
And apparently if you fail the eye test, they make you take a UA. The scanner isn't the final decision, it just saves them a lot of time and money instead of piss testing everyone every week. So, looks like I've got 18 months of good clean sober fun to look forward to
Oh well, it could always be worse.

You are a dumbass. Ask any lawyer if you should refuse the test if you are drunk, and they will all tell you to refuse it.
Do you think loosing your licence for 3 months and getting a misdemenor is worse then DUI?!!?
Fucking asshole.
Btw dip ship, you are allowed to refuse breathalyzers when you are not driving. No consequences. And there is no law saying if you refuse to look at a glow stick when you get pulled over you will loose your licence.
I hope you suck dick and die you bitch queer fuck.

Dude pull the cock out of your ass and calm the fuck down. I cant afford a lawyer bud. Btw dip shit the DUI IS A MISDEAMNOR HERE DIPSHIT.Extream dui is a felony. I also would have got my car impounded and would have had to pay over 100 dollars to get it out.
i am talking about MY state laws. right under where you sign says refusing results in losing liscense for 90 days. My job requiered me to drive to different places around the city as it was tile work.
my car got towed and it was 10$ to get it out!
Refusing is an automatic loss of your license for 90days.
it was 1:00am and i had to be to work in the morning at 8:00am
i was not drunk buton drugs
i was not in posession of said drugs
If i refused I would have been booked and i would have not been able to make it to work. For my cooperation, i was treated with respect, taken to the substation a mile from my house for the tests, and then when i could not get a ride home, the aresting officer was nice enough to drive me home.
i dont know what the fuck your problem is, maybe you have been treated like shit by the cops or whatever but my post was in no way hostile towards you and your post should in no way be hostile toward me.
in my situation cooperation outweighed the non cooperation.
So asshole, dip shit ,queer fuck, cock sucker i slept in my bed, didnt lose my job,and kept my license.

Notice how in no way did i try to insult you? Save the insults for the next time you get arrested so they beat you worse next time. They really like that. they can tack on resisting arrest, fleeing, and assualt on a police officer.

Re: Retinal Scanner for Probation (Help?)
Sounds faulty.
If anything, if they said you were getting high you could challenge it court.

Uh, yeah, you can. People hire expensive defense attorneys all the time who file appeals and go to bat for people over shoddy drug testing methods and questionable results. Take those EtG tests for example; people were testing positive for alcohol use due to shit like hand sanitizer and hairspray.

Im sorry but checking the eyes has been proven to work and has been used for atleast 8 years and praobalby more like 20 years or even longer.
Also, they use iodine to prep the injection site here and specifically have a witness to show that an alchol based clenser was not used to prep the site to draw blood.
Field sobriety tests however have not been scientifically proven to show that someone is intoxicated.

Lots of methods that are "proven to work" have plenty of problems with them as well. It doesn't fucking matter how many years it has been used. This method IS ripe with loopholes. As PoC said, no matter what the method of testing there are always going to be false positives and (the more pleasing) false negatives.
As far as TheBlackPope is concerned, don't let him get you all worked up like that. His information is rarely as useful as he likes to think. His flaming is useful for a laugh on rare occasions though.

yeah I am sure it is not perfect but the cop checked my eyes and was spot on the drug I was on. I was in the wrong not the officer. Maybe my morals go to far but I admit I did something wrong and I will pay the price for it if I have to. Paying 1000-10000 dollars for a defense attorney to stir shit up can work but it can also fail just as easy. Your first sentence also applies to defense attorneys.
yeah i dont know wtf got his panties all in a bunch but all I said is what happend to me, i think he got jealous because the cops were not assholes to me.

I'm not one that tends to fight something if I'm in the wrong either. I just figured I'd throw my two cents out there about the fact that it could be contested and likely thrown out with the right attorney.
