Deer huntin'.

Just curious as to how many deer hunters there are in this forum.

Unfortunately I won't be able to head to the field this year due to various constraints, however next year I might be moving across the river to Kentucky where modern rifles are rather well accepted for dropping whitetails. Not so lucky in Ohio.

Pics and personal stories encouraged.

I think you'd be better off posting this in W&C, I've seen hunting threads in there before getting many replies, the crowd here in this forum might not be that supportive of hunting.

Bow hunt from october till feb in Ohio.
Rifle started friday in kentucky, I'm hoping to go next weekend down to familys.
Shotgun week is nov 26- dec 2nd in OH, I'll be there.

I always like kentucky's gun season because they let you use rifles (I usually don't have a shot over 50 yds where I hunt though, so it doesn't help me much) and because it happens right in the middle of the rut. Speaking of the rut, tuesday is supposed to be the best day you can deer hunt all year long.

What do you do with the deer you kill? If you eat them it can kind of be justified I suppose but just killing them for the trophy is disrespectful I think.

Almost no one just kills a deer, takes the head and leaves it. I've never heard of it IRL and just about every other hunter would look down on that. Most states have programs that if you kill a deer and don't want the venison you can donate it to local homeless shelters.

Spoiled homeless bastards, getting meat that costs $25 a pound at the butcher for free.
