Although I swear by google in most cases and generally hold it as a sacred icon to the greatness of technology I sometimes wonder if perhaps I've been fooled into believing in a false prophet. Incidents like the china censoring stuff make me wonder if they're not doing the same in the US or globally on more covert levels. So what do yall think?

I avoid google these days.
While google search is maybe the best , and I use the search daily, as first choice, I will fight off google toolbar and google updates etc., as they continually try to install themselves.
I have likened them to AOL in their attempt to drop unwanted BS into your hidden applications that run upon startup.
Presently, I believe google updater has defeated my attempts to hold it off.

They take what you search and categorize you based on that, then advertisement companies direct adverts they think you'll be interested in to your computer.
