Default Engagement

Hail Totseans,

After a long extended absence in which time I endured a laundry list of drama, chaos and insanity, I've returned with news of an epic quality. As of August, 2008, I officially became engaged to my beautiful girl. I bid those who do recall me a sincere hello and wishes that all is well and am constantly impressed by the ease through which totse always seems to stay the same.

But, to make this a post of some worth beyond alerting those few who *do* remember who the fuck I am as to the state of things, I'll pose a question; What is *your* ideal engagement/wedding/honeymoon and why?

-Valmont

Somehow, never having seen S&A without you, it feels as if you've been modding it since 1989 (aka the beginning of time)

Val! You popped into my head the other day!
So nice to see you, congrats on your engagement ^^

For me, a dream wedding would be something relatively small, with only the people me and my SO care about most. Minimalist decorations, dress, etc. White roses and camellias...*dreams*

and I've probably missed a couple. Psycho and Mojo have been here also since mankind decided that leaving the trees might be a good move.

You won't remember me, mostly because I posted on another account back in the day, but I remember you. (And that sounds creepy, doesn't it?)

Well, either way, congratulations on the engagement and best of luck in your life together.

I noticed like only one person actually answered the OP's question about their dream wedding or whatever. So since I'm bored enough, I'll describe mine. In the past, I used to fantasize about every little detail; I had planned everything, right down to the color scheme. But that was when I was younger. Now that I'm actually with someone I love deeply, more than anything or anyone in the world, I tend to dream about it differently. Now when I think about my future wedding, all I can think about is walking down the aisle and seeing the person I love, full of anticipation of starting a life together. I don't care so much about flowers, or location, or even what dress I'm going to wear. Which for a style conscious girl like me is a big deal :]

I could get married on a street corner wearing clothes I got out of a dumpster, and still be ecstatically happy.
(Although, I hope that my wedding is just a little classier than that)

Congrats, btw on your engagement. I'm sure it's a very happy time right now.

Good luck Val.

For me, an ideal engagement would last around 8 months. This time would be spent living together, if you hadn't lived together before, and getting used to the idea that you would be together for many years to come.

Ideal wedding would be 100-150 people and an open bar. Formal, but with an informal attitude.

Ideal honeymoon would be somewhere that I've never been with a big bed and enough money/time to enjoy it.

Ah, I totally missed the question, which I've never actually thought about until now.

If I ever did get married, I would want it to take place in two events. The actual ceremony would be in a small chapel somewhere rustic and pretty like Normandy, with just my fiancee and myself and the priest/official. Nothing expensive, no thousand dollar dress and massive ceremony, just an intimate exchange of wedding vows followed by a week in a cabin/cottage for the honeymoon, and maybe some local sightseeing. Then I would obviously want to have a reception/party with family and friends, but it would be totally casual kind of deal. The idea of a big, cathedral wedding with limos, flowers, bridesmaids, dresses, and all that garbage both confuses and frightens me. A marriage is supposed to be a symbolic uniting of two people, not a stressful, expensive event to prove that you love each other.
