Just wonderin what you guys thought about the fairly recent pharmaceutical modafinil. It's still patented, so to those without health insurance in US, sorry.

anyways, ive come across around 20ish 200mg tablets. I took 200mg today and it definitely gave me mental clarity for my testing.... i was able to study like never before.

What do you guys think about this new age of "stimulants"

to those that don't know, modafinil is a "wakefullness promoter"; ie it stimulates your mind but has negligible physical effects (such as rise in heart rate or blood pressure)

Anything contrary to being fully awake, jittery, talkative, full of "team spirit" and "ready to kick ass" is bad.

Why can't there be one thread about stimulants where someone doesn't bash on them and say something to the degree of "fuck tweaking, nod on some opes"? It's fucking apples and oranges. I can somewhat understand the inevitable "benzos vs. opiates" shit that comes up from time to time, considering they're both of a sedating/downer-esque nature, but seriously...how the hell do opiates and stimulants make any sense being compared to each other? That's like telling me not to take antacids for a stomachache because ibuprofen is so much better...

But anyways, OP, they did some study somewhere recently (which I can't be fucked to Google at the moment, sorry) and discerned that Provigil was about equally effective as caffeine was as far as its effectiveness as a stimulant. I've taken it before, and honestly, I came to about the same conclusion. It's not placebo; that is, it does work as far as reducing fatigue and improving concentration, but in my opinion I didn't receive any noteworthy benefits from it that would even half-way justify the ludicrous price you're going to shell out at Walgreens for it short of having a crooked doc like my old psych who would just dole out paper bags full of samples from his closet.

Dude I've got fucking adrafinil (a pro-drug that breaks down into Modafinil) and it doesn't do dick except make your piss smell strongly of some strange odor.

I tried as much as 1200mg to no avail. If anything the stuff felt more like a dissociative than a stimulant. Made me a damn zombie. Anything repetitive was good to go, but anything that required attention was almost overwhelming. Stuff sucks my ass.
