Ok so recently I've been lead to believe that some fruits absorb strong alcohol. Someone told me that watermelon and vodka are a good mix, anyway at the moment I have a bottle of Gin and wondered what I could mix it with to make it easier to drink. Something fruity would be great :)

Maybe mix it with some pineapple juice and chunks of pineapple

Dried fruit is traditionally used for that sort of thing. Raisins, apricots, whatever.

[I'd recommend tonic water and a twist of lime, personally. For bonus points, fill an ice tray with the tonic and use that to keep it cool- no plain old water mucking up the taste of a good G&T.]

The vodka in a watermelon is one of those stories that you hear, but this one actually works. I've done it a few times and it is just killer. Especially on a hot Summer's day at a BBQ.

I am pretty pusillanimous when it comes to the taste of liquor, but I found the Madras (orange and cranberry juices with vodka) to go down pretty easily. Dunno how that go with gin though. I can handle booze in cola too.

You now how to make a Tequila Sunrise? It's pretty good.

Also there is super basic drinks, like screwdrivers and cosmos.

The vodka in the watermelon sounds great. Would everclear work?

it'd work with ever clear, but it wouldn't be good seeing as it'd taste like rubbing alcohol. just stick to 40% spirits. I've had it with vodka, white rum, and soco and it was best with the vodka. you also need to let it sit in the fridge for like 4 or 5 hours with the booze in it or it spills out when you slice it...

also, when you make wop or jungle juice put halved citrus fruits into it, they're awesome to eat at the end...

I've done it. I have a problem with gauging how much is too much, and this was one of my worst experiences with this problem. I ate way too much alcohol infused fruit and ended up puking for a good part of the night. So be warned it is hard to tell how much is too much.

I've only ever had six mixed drinks in my life. Other than that, it's all shots or beers.

Does each slice count as a mixed drink? I'd like to remain a man, but i really wanna try this.

I hardly ever drink Vodka, only Whiskey and sometimes Tequila, so let me ask: What kind should i get? I know alot of the regular shit, like sky vodka, but what tastes the best/is the hardest (either.)?

Ahh you have much to learn my son. There are but TWO proper ways to drink gin, the G&T being the first, pour one part gin and about two to four parts tonic to your taste over lots of fresh ice and some citrus, either lemon or lime also to your taste.
The second is the martini, but that probably isn't suitable for such novice gin drinkers as yourself If there is any hope left, you will shake some gin and a little sweet vermouth over ice, strain, drink, and become a real man.

Gin horrible, get yourself some bourbon or Jack Daniels, or gentleman's jack.

I always use everclear, but I'm sure any clear liquor would work.

Take a cooler. Fill it up 3/16 to a quarter of the way up with chopped fruit...Grapes, strawberries, watermelon, anything you like. Then, put a gallon of choice liquor into the fruit. Let this sit for an hour or more...i usually go about half a day. Then, pour four to five gallons of Hawaiian Punch into the cooler. Any juice/drink will work.

Its called Pj here in the southeast. I know in wisconsin its called "wop". I'm sure there are a million names for it. Its a cheap way to booze up a party, or stretch your shit out.

Try some Woodford Reserve or Knob Creek. You'll never touch Jack again.

I stay straight fucked up off of whiskey and water. Jameson FTW. Seriously, whiskey and water is the way to go.

Amen brother. I usually just pour it straight over copious amounts of ice, let it sit for about 5 minutes and drink....so I guess that comes out to whiskey and water, right?

Never tried Jameson yet...been busy delving into the world of bourbons. Does Jameson compare to any common bourbon? What kind of taste/feel is it?

i went to this party once and they had cut open a water melon and stuck a bunch of fruit in it (watermelon, apple, grapes shit like that) it had been sitting out for a while and i had about 3 pieces and got pretty tipsy. (yes their was alot of alcohol in it also)
