Semi-Auto Carrying Questions
Ok well, after being robbed at gunpoint with a 9 the other night, and then shot at 6-7 times afterwards with it. I want/need a gun. I refuse to get shot by some white wanna-be gangbangers in the area.
Now i would just goto a pawn shop and get a handgun and all, but problem is i'm not 21. That leaves me with access to semi-auto's/rifles/shotguns.
I want a AK, something i can fuck shit up with if need be. Now i want to be able to LEGALLY carry this in my car. I understand state laws vary widely on this issue. I understand in my state (South Carolina) the gun must be either locked in a case or in a trunk, unaccessible from inside the car. You must exit it to access the weapon.
Now this is the only thing i can't really find a clear answer to, is the ammo. Now i know for a fact it can't be loaded in the trunk, but can there be ammo loaded into a magazine, stowed under driver/passenger seat and/or glove box, or does ammo have to be non-loaded into the magazine. Again this is for South Carolina, that i'm inquiring about.
Anyone care to help me out on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Semi-Auto Carrying Questions
If you are in an encounter where you get out of your car, open the trunk, retrieve a rifle, and shoot someone, you are going to go to jail for murder.
It is one thing to shoot someone in the process of defending yourself. If you pull a gun and shoot someone who is threatening you, you will probably be OK. However, if you have time to get in your trunk and get a gun, a jury will say that you had time to get away. This would go even further if you were in a car that you could have just as easily escaped in.
You would be better off buying a pistol from a friend and carrying it in spite of the law. Then, you would be in trouble for illegal ccw, but not murder.

No, it doesn't. Supposedly, they had their governor sign into law the private party sale and possession of handguns by people over 18 earlier this year. It was on CNN. The BATFE regs support this. You know about private party sales? Buy a handgun, keep it in your glovebox.

If you have a gun drawn on you you will never get the chance to get a rifle out and load it and then defend your self. maybe you got lucky this time and the guy couldnt aim but next time it could be very different.

I have already looked into this law. This isn't like a law to get around the law. This law is meant for private sale of individual to individual at the age of 18, such as the purposes for inheritance of guns, or guns bought by a legal guardian and given to a 18 year old, for shooting sports, etc.
Even if i was able to buy a handgun in a private sale, i would still have to have a CCW to even carry that handgun in my car anyways, which you can't get unless your 21 in SC.
Also, i have had people attack my car with golf clubs before, etc. I mean that shit ain't fun and im sure a couple rounds in the air would have stopped stupid shit like that from happening.
Either way, until im 21, it's about the next best thing to handgun i can get in my state.

Wrong. It works for private party sales- the purchase of a handgun by an individual over the age of 18 from another individual who does not have an FFL. No purpose is mentioned. It doesn't bypass any law, nor did I say it did. Federal law states an FFL can not sell to an individual under 21, and supersedes state law. Nothing is being bypassed.
Even if i was able to buy a handgun in a private sale, i would still have to have a CCW to even carry that handgun in my car anyways, which you can't get unless your 21 in SC.
Wrong again. You can keep a handgun loaded in a locking glove box or center console in your state. Check your laws. You only need a CCW if you carry on your person.
Also, i have had people attack my car with golf clubs before, etc. I mean that shit ain't fun and im sure a couple rounds in the air would have stopped stupid shit like that from happening.
Don't fire warning shots unless you want to get arrested. You ONLY fire if you are justified to use lethal force, and you shoot to stop- not to warn, maim, etc.

Golf club is a fairly deadly weapon, isn't it?

In what context? Are you asking if you are justified in defending yourself with a gun against a golf club? Depends on the state. Normally, I'd say yes. There are other stipulations, such as the expression of intent to cause harm, the immediate ability to hurt you, etc. State dependent.

Re: Semi-Auto Carrying Questions
OP, from your posts it seems like trouble looks for you more than usual, or more likely you look for trouble. Being robbed once is one thing, but you go on to say people are attacking your car with golf clubs and the guy that robbed you shot you 6-7 times the other day(how are you posting on totse and not in the ICU?). It seems to like you might have done something to provoke these actions(especially in the golf club situation, wtf?), either that or you are a troll.
With that said, if you are not a troll and just have bad luck, live in a rotten neighborhood, or are surrounded by crazies, listen to Random Looney he knows what he's talking about and has already said everything I would have said. Though personally from your posts I honestly don't think you are mature/responsible enough to handle a firearm, though this can be fixed. As said, you never fire warning shots or shoot to maim, if you are going to fire your weapon you always fire to stop the threat and the fastest way to stop the threat is also the most likely to kill your attacker. In other words, shoot to kill and when the police ask questions say you were shooting to stop the threat. As they are in fact the same thing.

I've been told by a cop that without a permit I cant have any firearm loaded while in my car. Either he is full of shit or my state law is shit...

Often times cops are indeed full of shit. Read the text of the law for you self. Cops aren't lawyers, sometimes they aren't even too bright, and many times they lie and are full of shit.

What the hell is that supposed to mean?
Are you recommending the OP buy a PLR-16? It's a pistol. Learn your gun laws. If a weapon isn't otherwise an NFA AOW, and it's built without a stock... it is a pistol.

If you get the ones with the folding stocks that actually fire with the stock folded, maybe.

Get a Heckler & Koch MP7 Personal Defense Weapon.
A gas operated rotating bolt machine pistol that fires 4.6x30mm rounds at 950 rounds per minute. Has rails for optics and can equip a suppressor.
No one will fuck with you.

I think the OP ment that since it was an auto it had to be a 9mm, as Law and Order says thats the only calibre they come in... either that or he whipped out a ruler and measured... toss up really...
