A friend told me you can go into a pharmacy in Thailand and if you tell them the symptoms that would justify a certain drug, they'll give it to you. Example:

Walk in with arm in a sling, say you broke it, tell them you need an opiate. Or that you're stressed/can't sleep and need a benzo.

From personal experience:

Tramadol is available OTC, as is Codeine.

I believe Methylphenidate is also, haven't seen that.

Dunno about Thailand, but nextdoor in Cambodia there are OTC benzos in nearly every pharmacy, Valium and Xanax I saw.

And they're cheap as shit.

OH and exporting would be no problem at all, importing would be the difficult one.

I think the Thais can be a bit more strict, having caught onto this, especially in the tourist areas. Money does talk however, but i'd be careful... with a few valium for a bus ride or something you might well get away with it pretty easily, hmm.

The Thai cops are less corrupt than in other parts of Asia, which means they may not be bribeable, or may be so corrupt that they totally extort all of your money and still charge you, cos they know they can get away with it. It does happen. They're pretty hot on drugs in Thailand, at times, but I would think benzos and other pharmacy stuff is less big a deal than Yabba and things.

I bought xanax with ease in Phnom Penn in Cambodia, and I could have probably got codeine/morphine if I had wanted to, I dunno. The xanax was enough; I got 5mg for like $2 in 10 pills, and I didn't manage to finish them... they seemed pretty strong, and I had no tolerance. Don't try and export or buy in bulk though, unless you have BALLS OF STEAL, cos if you are caught you will be in deep, deep shit. Some British woman was caught in Cambodia exporting like 50,000 valium before I was there... I can't imagine you can bribe your way outa that one!

I'm not going to a beach once fortunately. I want to avoid the throngs of trashy tourists. And I'm going to all those countries plus Malaysia and Singapore.

Another tip I was given was it's pretty much guaranteed to be safe if you're buying drugs from a westerner but don't take the risk with buying from Thais. I'm not sure I want to risk DEATH for a high, so I think I'll just stick to the pharm route.

Xanax is one of my secret shames (loves?). Now with codeine, is there even a recreational use? Always found it to be way, way too weak.

A Filipino friend told me in some remote areas of SE asia you can buy ketamine quite legally and easily as well. I'll have to find out.
