How to break into house without setting off alarm
I was just wondering about this
I heard that cutting the power to the house does NOT work because the alarm system is hooked to something else...
Can someone please expand on that
Any tips for how to break into house without setting off alarm?
Thanks

Well these are different topics and in the end would serve as a great resource for others as well

True... I'll get back to you on it in about 5 mins.
Im gonna go inspect my own alarm... and I think there is a backup battery just incase people break in when there is a blackout.. (blackouts are extremely rare where I live.)

Re: How to break into house without setting off alarm
I have to say, thank you, for all of your expertise and help on this my friend.
A backup battery makes sense
If a home has a security system with backup battery...then I really don't see any way of entering without setting it off.
Any suggestions?

Re: How to break into house without setting off alarm
Well, I just went and checked how my alarm works.
It appears to be two magnets, one on the window, one on the wall...would trip the alarm if disconnected.. (dont take my word for this, im no expert...im just an acolyte. )
Maybe bringing your own magnet would work if you broke the window, placed it infront of the magnet on the wall (or whichever has the wire running to it) and then opening the window.
Give me your aim, and we'll discuss more.

Re: How to break into house without setting off alarm
Yeah that's exactly how it works.
I don't know if magnets work...it's risky because once the connection circuit is broken, then the alarm will go off. Simply closing the door and restoring the 2 circuits won't stop the alarm...
I added your AIM screen name to my buddy's list but you're not on...

Re: How to break into house without setting off alarm
The magnets do actually work, but you cant use fridge magnets, they arnt strong enough. the magnet i use is powerful enough to to attract another magnet while my fingers are between them.
you will need to test which pole of the magnet affets the alarms magnets, i dont know as my magnets dont have their poles designated. i remember which side to use because i marked mine. of course, assumeing no bars are present, you could just break the window and climb in, however motion detectors are a problem. i have yet to circumvent the latter issue.

Re: How to break into house without setting off alarm
okay after haveing contacted a friend and testing the device -im fast, i know, i can tell you this about motion detectors: the machine has a 30 to 35 degree blind-spot below the glass panle and about 20 degrees of blind-spot on either side of the glass panle. it is possible to inchworm while in its veiw. also, and most obviously, the make as well as the condition of the device affects its sensitivity, but that you should be able to tell by looking at it. the rule of thumb for this is: if it looks good, it is good. you can cut the connection of the device, however some of the more pricey ones are rigged to set off the alarm if this should happen. by the way, i ment to say, in my last post : mine can attract another magnent of similar streangth with my fingers between.

Re: How to break into house without setting off alarm
So how exactly does the magnet deal work? Right when you open the door and separate the 2 circuits, the alarm goes off and you can't stop it
Do you place the magnet near the circuits BEFORE you open the door?
And simply crawling really slow on the ground will avoid the motion detector?
