Water intoxication
This is just weird and the action towards it was unusually extreme so I'm sharing. Yeah, I found it on the web but BLTC should appreciate this more than any other board.
Quote:
"Water intoxication is a state of altered neurological functioning
produced by a hypotonicity in the central nervous system. It
results from the excessive intake of water over a short time
period. The body is unable to remove water from the system as fast
as it is taken in. There are several symptoms related to water
intoxication syndrome (WIS). Water intoxication is manifested by
"restlessness, asthenia, polyuria, frequency of urination,
diarrhea, salivation, nausea, retching, vomiting, muscle tremor,
ataxia, convulsions, frothing, stupor, and coma" (1). WIS seems to
be age independent. WIS has been reported in people as young as
three months old and in those 50 and older. WIS appears to be
particularly prevalent in schizophrenic disorders (SD).
It has been found that people suffering from SD drink on the
average of roughly twice the amount of water as the average
population(1). The prevalence of high water intake in mental
facilities is 6.6%-17.5% higher than the norm. Over 70% of these
people suffer from SD. There seems to be a direct link between
water intake and an increase in the activity of the dopaminergic
system. Thus in these patients, drinking excessive amounts of
water would result in the reward of endogenous opioids being
released in the brain(2). It basically puts them on a high. There
has been a study by Tadashi Nishikawa that shows promising results
of reducing WIS by incorporation of the drug Naloxone(2)."

Re: Water intoxication
be careful, high doses of H20 can lead to death by asphyxia.
i used to drink a gallon and hour to pass drug tests and never got a buzz, and drinking that much was uncomfortable to say the least.

No shit... I think it's a very idiotic idea. It talks about a woman drinking 3 liters of water in 3 hours. I don't think I could even stomach that much water.
I'm just shocked that they'd use naxolone to snap a mental health patient out of their shit high so they can go drink even more water and end up killing themselves.

Re: Water intoxication
Some people go way overboard when trying to dilute their urine with water. So let this be a lesson

Re: Water intoxication
Yep, this is why some people die on ecstasy, they think they aren't getting enough water and drink too much.
This is a stupid Idea and not worth the time.

You get dehydrated but these fools think you need a gallon an hour.
Take the E first, wait until it's starting to kick in, and start eating some good stuff. Bananas taste awesome on E and they have a lot of good stuff in them to provide you with natural energy throughout the roll.
Nutrients are just as important as hydration on E. A lot of people think you just need water.

I agree, I just thought it was relevant to mention that the majority of people dying from E are actually dying from over hydration and not a particular allergy to stuff in the E (aside from E being cut to shit with bad stuff if you have a shitty hookup).

Re: Water intoxication
Ive talked to a few doctors about this and they said the amount of water that you need to drink for this to go into effect is an astronomical amount. You would feel the shitty effects way before hand which would tell your body to stop.

Re: Water intoxication
Haha, i actually have alot of experience with this. For one ive binged on ridiculas amounts of water tryin to dilute my urine an second ive been forced to drink water till ive puked in bootcamp. And there is NOTHING fun about it, infact it is quite uncomfortable to say the least. You do feel a little bit different than your normal state of mind but its far from pleasurable. Too much of anything can kill you.

Re: Water intoxication
Kids were doing this in high school about five years ago (at least in mine)
You'd chug 2-3 20oz bottles of water as fast as you could, and supposedly you'd get a short lived buzz.
I never tried it, but they said it worked.
