been together over a year, no "i love you,"
TL/DR at bottom
So my boyfriend and I have been together for a year and 2 months. We were really close friends for about 4 years beforehand.I've always been against rushing things, so I wanted to wait for him to say "I love you," first. Once he said it, but it was after I told him I was waking up early the next day (which he likes, I like sleeping in) Being the idiot I am, I worried about saying it back when he didn't mean it, so I just smiled & kissed him, something like that. He hasn't said it since.
I've said it a couple times, never straight up "I love you," but something along the lines of "Don't worry, it's you I love." Both times he said NOTHING. Being friends for as long as he have been, we have lots of mutal friends, so I asked a girl friend that is super close to him to ask about it, being unobvious. She did. Told me he didn't believe in saying it, because it's just words, and actions mean more.
I've always had the thought that if someone loves someone, they want to say it and hear it back, irregardless. I keep telling myself, he wouldn't be with me if he didn't love me. I do feel it, sometimes, but others, I just don't know. Oh, and this is his 1st long term relationship my 2nd one.
TL/DR
Been with boyfriend 1 year, 2 months, was close friends for 4 years before. He hasn't said I love you. He doesn't like to, prefers proving with actions. Makes me wonder if maybe he thinks he loves me, but is just "fond of me," or w/e. Does this mean I'm doomed to be left when he discovers what true love is?

Re: been together over a year, no "i love you,"
I would just bring it up. And no, it's not necessarily true that he wouldn't be with you if he didn't love you. Sometimes people just coast through relationship because it's fun or comfortable. I dated a girl for about 7 months and never once felt that I loved her and if it weren't for her leaving for a semester, I probably would have just kept it going. My sister dated a guy for 1 1/2 years and he never said it, he ended up being afraid of commitment and they broke up (and they were 26 yo at the time, not exactly young).

Re: been together over a year, no "i love you,"
About six months in to our relationship, my girl and I went for a walk on the pier at night. I asked her what she would say if I told her I loved her. After a 10 minute embrace, she said "I love you too".
And that was that. We only say it when we feel like it should be said and we mean it every time.
Probably one of the nicest days of my life thus far.

hahhahah, fuck that relationship is all i have to say.
if i was just playing with the girl i would never say it or maybe to get in her weeeeet pants, but otehr then that no.
but if i really liked this girl, i would just say i love u with no hesitation and peck her on her lips while saying i love you.

Re: been together over a year, no "i love you,"
Why don't you just freaking say it? Jesus. If you love him tell him. None of this high school drama he has to say it first bullshit. If he doesn't say it back then you can start to get upset.

If you've been together that long and can't openly talk about this shit, you should probably just end it.

Re: been together over a year, no "i love you,"
Thanks for your input, everyone. :) I felt as though he should say it first because I liked him when I first met him, and he didn't like me that way back at first... so I dudn't want to force it out of him. But I see that i have been childish, now. I'm gonna talk to him about it. Thanks again :)

your fucking stupid, your behaving the same way a girl would if she DIDNT LOVE HIM. think about it, he said it to you and all you did was smile and kiss him? wtf woman girls like you are what confuses the fucking shit out of us.
to the guy going on about how he says it to get pussy, doesn't that scare you that your personality and looks aren't good enough for a girl? only when you offer her some security she responds? owned man, you must be a loser.
