Commitment
Long story short
I'm 17, I'm in a long distance relationship and have been since i was 16 so its been a year and a half now. I've been with about 9 girlfriends, only 4 of which have been serious, but nothing like the one i'm with now.
I moved away from my home town, and before i did i'd met a girl who i instantly had an eye for. Little did i know she had her eyes on me too. However i moved and i never talked to her for atleast half a year (she never came on Aim or emailed me) Anyways.... i couldn't keep my mind off of her and thinking about what could've been, the girls in my new area were just other people to me, and i couldn't keep anything going with them for more then a month or two. But one day 1.5 years ago she came on and we started talking. We talked online and on the phone for a long time (3-4 months)
One day it just became a fact that we really loved one another, turns out she hadn't tried to contact me because she was really really sad that i'd never given much hint to that i liked her, and when i moved it was painful to think about me. But yeah so I'm with her now and i see her about 3 months out of the year for a total of two months worth of time.
So what i really want to know is if anyone else has done anything like this, and is this unusual for a teen to be doing? oh and feel free to ask anything you want.

Re: Commitment
Well, I've been with my boyfriend for two years and ten months. When we started dating I was 14 and he was 16, and he's now three hours away in his first year of university. So far he comes home every third weekend, and we're looking forward to almost a month at Christmas and three or four months for the summer. It's not the most common thing to do; it requires such a huge amount of trust, communication and effort to make a long distance relationship work, and most teenagers aren't really up to it. However I don't think it's impossible if two people really care about each other and are willing to work at it.
Good luck with you and your girlfriend; it's nice to see a long distance relationship that's lasted so long, and it makes me a bit more optimistic about my own relationship.

Re: Commitment
The best part about long distance relationships is you can cheat, and the other person will never find out!

Re: Commitment
Before i met her i'd agree with you, not to say its not hard to not have her in my arms, but it makes every visit that much sweeter.
