My friend's roommate is a drug dealer
And he also grows cannabis at the place they rent.
My friend has nothing to do with either selling or growing, and he says that he'd pass a drug test if given one, but he's worried that if the roommate gets caught, the cops are going to arrest him too, because he lives in the house where the weed is grown. This is in Australia.
What does the law say about this?

Re: My friend's roommate is a drug dealer
Your friend failed to report crime which makes him felon.

Re: My friend's roommate is a drug dealer
I don't know about Australia, but in America most people do not have a duty to report a crime. However I'm sure you would be arrested and probably prosecuted for something. Continuing to live with a person who engages in that type of illegal activity is a big risk, even in America.

I'd tell your friend to be very careful about where he puts his stuff and what he touches.

Re: My friend's roommate is a drug dealer
If your friends place gets raided he could be fucked. If the cops can prove he knew about the grow operation then they could charge him with the same crimes as the guy who was doing the growing.
Or the roommate could just say all the plants are your friends. just because he can pass a drug test does not mean that he does not grow.
And who the fuck grows weed if they live with a roommate? what if one of his friends comes over who is rabidly anti-drug and reports the grow operation to the cops? This guy must be dumb as fuck to take that kind of risk allowing complete strangers into his grow house.

Re: My friend's roommate is a drug dealer
^^^Agreed 100%
I'm pretty sure that by paying rent on a place where he knows drug production is occurring he's an accessory to the crime. He'd have to show that he had no knowledge of the illegal activity to get an acquittal.
I think the same thing would apply for the selling, but he is less likely to be charged and convicted, all he has to do is disown any knowledge of the selling of drugs.
I think everyone in the building where the weed is being grown is potentially facing jail time.
