Highest paying jobs
Ok, i know this is kindof a retarded question, but what would you guys say is a higher paying job, Lawyer or Computer Programmer? Just a stupid arguement between me and my friend who seems to think he'll be making 250$ per hour after he passes his bar exam(chyeah maybe if his client is the next OJ Simpson...)
thanks in advance

Re: Highest paying jobs
Lawyer
Programmers don't earn much and there isn't much room for promotion.

Re: Highest paying jobs
Lawyer by far.
You don't have to have high-profile clients to make a shit-ton of money as a lawyer. Average people pay ridiculously high prices rather often because they're afraid of having their asses shitcanned.

Re: Highest paying jobs
Lawyers for sure.
My girlfriend's uncle was Mike Tyson's lawyer, during the time when he bit Holyfield's ear off. You wouldn't believe how rich that son of a bitch is now, he's set for life, has a mansion, a boat, sports cars, and all his kids go to USC. It's ridiculous how much lawyers pull in.

Re: Highest paying jobs
Lawyers can make a shit load of money. If your a lawyer assigned to petty crimes and shit, you can legally take 90% of the offenders bond, and you don't even have to win..it's mostly arranging plea deals and shit. Imagine making $300 arranging a plea deal for a petty theft crime in 10 minutes, then spending 5 minutes getting signatures and then turning to your next case. Thats great fuckin money man, and thats not even real lawyer money when you get into the big cases and shit.

Re: Highest paying jobs
Everyone is looking at the higher up lawyers but just take a step back and look at the whole picture.
Theres a ton of different types of lawyers out there (Assaults Lawyer, Bankruptcy Lawyer, Compensation Lawyer, Defense Lawyer, Divorce Lawyer, Fraud Lawyer, Insurance Lawyer, Medical Malpractice Lawyer just to name a few)
An average salary for a computer programer can range from 40k-120k
An average salary for a lawyer an range from a paralegal (42k) to a trial attorney (86k) and even upto 120k
You also have to look at the schooling aspect. How long, how much you would pay. And the hours. A lot of lawyers work tons of overtime just to try and win the case they are on.

Re: Highest paying jobs
At a first look, one would say lawyer. They can definitely earn a ton of money, if they are really good at what they do. Computer programmers have salaries though, and they typically aren't too shabby. It's basically a salary vs. commission scenario. It's good to know what you make and if it's going to be a lot, but it's also good to know that you have the potential to set your own bar as high as you want.
But I'd say lawyer.
