Hello All. Today i have picked up a bottle of GABA ( Gamma AminoButyric Acid) 750 at GNC.

I was wondering if anyone knows if GABA would lower a persons Benzodiazepine tolerance?

I have read from a few articles on the internet that it is good for withdrawels.

Would this also have an effect if taken with a Benzodiazepine?

No and yes. Benzos are GABAa agonists, meaning they increase the affinity of the GABAa receptor to GABA. Look around on wikipedia and you'll get some results. However, if you look in LT you can find a much better use for that GABA (and it's something that kinda mirrors the effects of benzos; should be interesting to try).

From using correlational thinking (aka not critical thinking aka could most definitley be wrong) I would assume that taking GABA would increase the levels of GABA transmitters in your brain and then taking benzos would then take these and get you higher. Same theory on how people think if you take 5htp and then ecstasy you will get higher becasue 5htp converts into seratonin (even though it can't cross the BBB just like GABA can't).

The jury's still out on that one, as it is with GABA.
