Anti-anxiety and herb question.
my birthday is coming up in the next few days. i smoke a lot of weed, and have been looking forward to this occasion because my girlfriend has agreed to smoke with me on this specific evening. she was a stoner back in the day but...her last experiences have been more than unpleasant for her and myself. weed just causes her to get very anxious and have panic attacks. she never gets this way unless she smokes weed. she gets thinking too fast and just gets really uncomfortable and it makes the entire situation awkward. so im hoping to offset this usual reaction by getting her an anti-anxiety pill to take a few hours before the smoking begins. i dont know much about pills and i was wondering what would be best? lorazepam? xanax? and also, has anybody had experience with this? what effect does taking such a medication have on a pot high? comments appreciated.

Re: Anti-anxiety and herb question.
I think Xanax would definitely kill her anxiety completely but she might not enjoy her high very much. You might want to look into Valium Or Klonopin.
I have bad anxiety myself even more so when i smoke weed, so i know where shes coming from.
Xanax: When i taken 2-4mg of xanax while smoking weed i have absolutely no anxiety at all but i hardly remember the night and smoke all of my exotics.
Valium: I took 10-20mg of valium about 30 minutes prior to smoking some mids and had a very enjoyable high no anxiety at all.
Klonopin: took 1-2mg of Klonopin 20-30 minutes prior to smoking some BC bud did not have any anxiety but was kind of boring. I then proceeded to drink.
I would say if she is going to smoke definitely do not go with a high Sativa strain. I would just get some mids and give her 1 - 2 10mg of Valium.
I hope this information helps. Let me know how it goes!

Re: Anti-anxiety and herb question.
Why do you want to put her through that, anyway? I can understand wanting to have your girl share an old pastime of yours, but if it really makes her so uncomfortable, can't you just take solace from knowing that she's down with you doing it?

"Fuckyew" do you honestly think that taking benzos will reduce the high of marijuana?
They make each other a dozen times better.

I never said "It will reduce the high of marijuana" all i said was that it impairs my memory and i do not remember it. (that is if i take enough).
They do go very well together in the right amounts.

Re: Anti-anxiety and herb question.
I would go with Klonopin, just cause its so awesome Whenever I take it, I have zero anxiety, and no paranoia when I smoke, very enjoyable.
A friend of mine is in the same situation, and she takes Klonopin for insomnia (I know >_>) so I told her how that could work out, as she gets panic attacks when she smokes good weed. So she might smoke again if it all works out.
Good luck.

Klonopin is the best to mix with weed. It doesn't make me feel all spacey and drunk lorazepam or valium. Just chilled out.

Get her a couple shots of some solid whiskey-- that'll calm her down a bit.

This.
Nothing works better for a lil anxiety then a few shots, pick your liqour, really doesnt matter. If you dont want to do go the alcohol way, I would suggest a light dose of xanax. Short half life, easy to find, and is the probaly the best benzo out there meant to stop/prevent panic attacks. Ativan, valium, and klonopin are all great anti-anxiety meds, but the half life for klonopin and valium are long so she would still be feeling them after the weed high went away. A light dose of .5-1mg of xanax a half hour before smoking should do her fine.

Re: Anti-anxiety and herb question.
I get the same problem with smoking which is why I tend to smoke alone if I do these days. Its a lot harder to communicate with well with people or understand situations when really blazed and with racing thoughts and shifted perceptions combined with paranoia can make an experience somewhat stressful and cause anxiety. The best thing to do is just take it slow, combine a little alcohol and remember that because she hasn't smoked in a long time she will have an exceptionally low tolerance and be unused to the high compared to you. Weed causes a lot more paranoia and anxiety in high doses so just don't get her too fucked and try and do it in a stress free environment where there will be a minimum of people around at the time and after smoking with a place where she can get away somewhere quiet, dark, comfortable and peaceful if things get too much. Anxiety seems at least for me to be especially bad when it comes to dealing with people that haven't been smoking as they seem even harder to commuiunicate with and may give off body language that may be percieved wrongly.
The way I see it, its all about seting and company and the avaliablity of some kind of safetly net (i.e. the safety of a nice warm bed) if things get out of hand for her. It sounds like preparing her for an acid trip or something but really if she had past issues with weed it might help to treat the situation that way.
