Well yesterday, me and a friend were smoking weed behind some old antique shop when a cop car pulled up. I dropped my pipe and ran, 2 cops got out and chased us. I dont know where my friend ran, but I ran towards these small woods and was being chased for bout 3 min. Finally the cop gave up, and I just got out of view and climbed up a tree to hide for 2 hrs. I realized that running from the cops is not as easy as it seems. For anyone who has experience running from the cops, do u have any tips to get away?

EDIT: when you are knowingly committing a high risk crime( high risk meaning the potential police have of showing up) wear permitting clothes for running, nothing too flashy that is an easy target to spot. Also dont carry weapons unless absolutely necessary. also if you do need to have a weapon ,make sure it is one you can discard easily, swiftly and with minimal damage to your bank account.

I've never ran from the cops but,

-Once you manage to get out of their sights just briefly, pull into a driveway and turn it off and duck
-Drive to a public place and try to lose them in the crowd (try and change your appearace)
-Throw a bunch of nails down or those things with 4 spikes and no matter how it lands there's one spike pointing up.

-I saw this show about these guys who robbed banks/armored trucks, whenever they got into a police chase they would drive to a back alley or somewhere where there was a tall fence where they had another car parked on the other side. They'd climb over the fence and get in and drive off, worked pretty well for them.

Definitely don't climb up a tree because where the hell can you go? Nowhere, you're stuck there. If the police care enough to come in and find you or use a K9 unit you are fucked.

but if ur in a car- make a quick corner once u have enough distance from the cop and turn off ur car especially headlights!
too many dumb ass criminals keep driving when they could easily lay low.
now if ur runnin-make sure u know the area.
find a tunnel or sewerage and hide there for 1-2 hours.
one of the best ways of runnin from cops is makin the cops come to ur turf.

If someone was to get themselves into a situation where they would have to run from police officers they are probably quite stupid. This is what the cops expect... so dont be stupid like so many people are.



I would suggest going for woods everytime, because if you run onto private property it might increase the officer's concern.

Avoid getting into cars. Try to aviod any "getaway" method that will add charges onto the initial crime.

IE- Throwing something at the cop
IE- Speeding?

Run as far as you can. Run until you can't run any more. Then, and only then, should you hide.

Bike is the best transport, quick, can go through narrow areas which cop cars can't, can go off road, no license plates.

Besides that just don't let them see your face and bring an expandable baton with you.

A while ago there was a good idea in a thread about a laser pointer, could come in handy if you have time; just be damned sure you do get away after assaulting a cop/dog with weapons or using the laser to blind them.

And the most obvious one, don't get caught or stick around too fucking long and you won't have any signs of the cops after you.

No shit cops are trained to chase people, why'd you think you take weapons as a precaution? You'll only randomly get searched by a cop in the street (before you've even done anything) if you're acting sketchy or dressed in ALL black (which is stupid anyway, wear navy blue or burgundy).

You just make damned sure they don't catch you up if you use them against them or they see your face.

One good hiding place I've had before was running into a shopping centre through the car park and then into the centre into the toilets where I switched from and ditched from my clothes I'd been wearing to do the job into my normal clothes. If you can get away from them for a few seconds at all then ditch out and hide somewhere, chances are they'll end up running past you, then go on the move again.

Never stay in the same gear longer than you have to, get it ditched into a dumpster to pick up later or some shit.

If you ever have the opportunity to get to a rooftop bring your own lock and lock the door behind you; if they didn't see you go up to the roof then you're pretty safe.

Just keep running. They'll give up eventually. DON'T go threw gardens, unless you've been in them before, once you've ran into a garden with the fences locked/high fence/bush/dog whatever then you're fucked. The last time I ran from the police they started shouting me and my friends name and shouted 'Get back here you dicks' and we got put in the cells. Running from a cop is an offence.
