Default Wisdom Teeth Being Removed - Pain Killers?

Sometime in the next three to four weeks I'll be having both of my wisdom teeth (surgically) removed. How do I go about getting prescribed Vicodin or OxyContin? Will my dentist just give it to me?

(never been in surgery/broken a bone/ anything that would mandate a painkiller prescription)

--and I know already; "REGISTRATION'S OPEN?" "GTFO TOTSE" ect.

Hope your dentist is a generous motherfucker and doesnt just write you a script for 800mg Ibuprofen's

And BTW, you got a semi-good chance at getting vics, but there aint a chance in hell hes going to perscribe you Oxy for wisdom teeth.

Well, that is, he wont get OxyContin. If in canada though you will guarantee not get vics as hydrocodone is not (apparently?) ever prescribed in canada. You may get percocet 5's or a generic equivalent, it comes down to luck, true severity of pain and your acting. Comfort of the patient is generally the first priority, just remember that.

A few weeks ago i got a tooth pulled, and they didn't give me shit.

A week after that, i went to a different dentist, and got another tooth pulled, this time they gave me 30 T3's [yay]
AND i got to try nitrous for the first time!

This is what you should expect as a decent score. Not spectacular but decent and definitely realistic and possible.

I'm in the U.S.

When you say acting... I'd assume you mean something along the lines of me crying to my parents (I'm in high school) the next day about all the unbearable, excruciating pain in my mouth. Or do you mean right after the surgery?

Both?

?

Doctors treat pain like the elephant in the room that everybody notices, but nobody says anything about. There are a few people on here that can attest to that better then I can, but to a doctor it is all about covering there ass and making sure that they are always right; if a doctor doesnt think your in pain, you aint getting shit. Period. End of story. No if's and's or but's. Regardless of how you feel or how much pain your really are in (This is mental and physical BTW). I'll keep my personnal stories to myself because they don't pertain to this thread nor its contents, but if you think for a fucking second that doctor's care about your 'comfort level' then you are seriously, seriously mistaken. But as you said, you could be one of the lucky ones. Never take that for granted.

I ended up getting 60 5/500 vics when i had my wisdom teeth out. I got 30 when i first got them out, then i was a dumbass and smoked before they healed. I had to go everyday and have gauze repacked in the sockets. I casually mentioned i ran out and they wrote me a script for more. Don't smoke!

I live in the U.S and had mine pulled about 4 months ago. I got 20 5mg generic perocets. My oral surgeon is a dick about giving pain meds.

On the other hand i had cavity and when i went to my regular dentist he asked if it hurt. I was honest and told him it was a little bit sore especially if i chewed food on that side of my mouth. He could not get me back in to put on a filling until the next week and to my great surprise he wrote me out a script for 30 7.5/325 percocets and on the bottle it said to take 1 or 2 pills every 4 hours. He is the only dentist i know that actually seems to understand how shitty it is to have constant mouth pain and he will not hesitate to give you pain meds if he believes you really are in pain. But god help you if you lie to him. I saw one kid complaining that afte having a single molar pulled that he could not eat for days and that taking 2 of the 7.5 percs did nothing. As a test he gave the kid a brush and told him to brush his teeth and then he came into the other room to work on me. we both watched through the open door as this kid brushed away verh hard at the side where the tooth had come out of and he did not wince. But when my dentist walked back into his room he immediately began holding the side of his face and moaning in pain. The acting was so obvious and pathetic that the dentist called him out right on the spot and sent him home with nothing. Actually he took out his script pad and as he was writing the kid stopped moaing and actually started smiling. That smile went away fast when he saw that the script just said to go home and take 2 regular tylenol every couple of hours! I wish all doctors were like him and understood that not everyone is just looking to get high and that some people actually are in pain and that the DEA will not arrest you for writing a script for a weeks supply of pain meds.

Oh and DONT complain right after the surgery. You will still be numb from the novocaine shots and the dentist will know for sure that you are faking it. the real pain wont begin until a few hours afterwords when the novacaine wears off and will really be hurting when you wake up the next day. Just take whatever he gives you and tough it out for the rest of the day. If the meds dont work call him the following morning and tell him. Best case you get stronger meds. Worst case you get nothing, but its not like he is going to scream at you and take the original meds he gave you away so you really have nothing to lose.

I was lucky enough to get percocet, that's probably the best you'll get.

I actually got two wisdom teeth removed a week ago, all the doctor gave me was Dolased (which is an OTC analgesic, I believe). I live in a small-town though, where everyone knows everyone, and where the doctors generally never give out narcs. It probably does vary, depending on location and your individual doctor(s), but don't expect anything over-the-top; especially not Oxy.

When I got mine removed about 4 months ago, the doctor predcribed me Tylox, a generic of oxy. I think it was about 30 at first, and my sores healed incredibly fast. Of course I "complained" that it still hurt, so then he wrote me a script for some percs. So all in all, it never hurts to ask.

I just got mine pulled a few weeks ago and got some Lortab(s).

My buddy however got some percocet, however he also had dry-sockets which I hear is not as good of a deal as it sounds like.

Without lying or even talking about pain at all they gave me 20 7.5 vicoden. I went in after I was supposed to run out and said one of the sides still hurt and I didn't have enough time to get there gauge they insert and only they can take out, so they just gave me 20 more of the 7.5s

Man, I went to the dentist a few weeks ago and it turns out I have 6 FUCKING WISDOM TEETH. I don't know if they're going to remove them all at once but if they do then I'm fucking suing if I get anything less than percs.

Fuck they give you people scripts for just about anything over the pond, if I had teeth taken out the dentist would probably just tell me to buy some 8/500 co-codamol.
