they dont give rewards down here, though different regions and different stores may have different policies.

my guess is they dont. its not worth their money. a company large enough to reward a vigilante money generally can afford to replace the product they lose without much of a loss. and even if you do report them, its not like they are going to track the person down


your best bet is to ask the manager. "hey man, i saw some kid shoplift some item." wait for him to reply, then say "say, i heard that you guys reward people who report shoplifters. is this true?"

I worked at an extra foods for a year. Whats important to remember is that if you stop shop lifters you COULD be given UP TO a five hundred doller reward. In most cases you would make more profit stealing the item yourself.

In Uk there is a £500 rewards for dirty lil snitches who report on weed dealers.
The reward money? Spent on more weed or even more potent drugs...stupid policy.

I've never heard of anyone giving rewards for tattling on shoplifters. Seriously, how retarded is that notion? Any reward anyone gives a shit about (e.g. the $500 the OP mentioned) would cost more than just letting a couple of people steal stuff, or hiring a security guard for a week. Plus, given how quickly shoplifting occurs, I don't see how the time frame would be practical. By the time you tugged on a manager's sleeve and got him to listen to you the shoplifter would be long gone.

You answered your own questions, find out if there is actually a reward 1st before doing anything; if you reported too many people though within a short time period they'd think something was fishy and assume you're setting it up.
