Well, its been 4 years and drugs suck ive decided. They either warp your mind or fuck with your body. Dont get me wrong, there are some good drugs out there with great benefits (Such as MDMA and therepy). Or Mushrooms and OCD, but aside from these medical uses that are only needed once, drugs are pointless.

Its a way to waste your time while contributing nothing to society, changing your personality, and pissing away money. Im not anti drug. However i think im starting to understand why alot of adults quit drugs. I wanna function and succeed in the world and mindset i was born into. I was born sober, and unless i pull an Aldous Huxley.....ill probably die sober. Drugs have changed my life for the better, and they have fucked it up completely.

I see what you're saying, and I'm not saying that everyone should go out and do drugs because they can fuck up your life in a pretty bad way, but, if you think about it, don't we do tons of selfish things daily that only add to our level of pleasure? It could be anything like watching TV, listening to music, reading book, etc. The difference we these things and drugs though is the fact that drugs are for the most part guaranteed pleasure (with the exception of some psychedelics and probably some other drugs), whereas other things aren't. Also drugs are euphoric and once you experience it's kind of like there's no going back. You realize that it's hard to find that intense state of pleasure without a lot of work. That's probably the reason a lot of people quit drugs, along with the influence of people around them.

On shrooms I realized the same thing, but also that drugs are a big part of my life and when used in moderation can improve quality of life.

They can be pointless if you make them pointless, everything in moderation really. There are realizations to be made under the influence of certain drugs, but I agree that they have the potential to take a large toll on you and society and are really to be pleasing to only the person under the influence of them.

And as someone else said people usually get out of drugs once the people around them stop doing them.

I consider weed and psychs to have improved my state of mind, i can be completly sober and happy with my life, i don't find it hard to just stop when i want to. with the exception of a 30mg oxy about 4 or 5 days ago i have been sober for a month tomorrow... i didn't just snort that roxi to get high, i bruised my sternum that day and it hurt to move/take any remotely deep breath.... and that took away the worst of that pain... still hurts a little but nothing i really pay much thought to....

We all have our fix or indulgence... Some people turn to religion, others turn to athletics, some people read, some like to eat, some like to listen to music, but we find our happiness in chemicals. I hate it when people say its all fake emotion. What is emotion? The release of chemicals into the brain. We just are a little bit more forceful as far as controlling the release of these various chemicals...

I learned whole hell of a lot more about myself in 8 hours than about 6 months of therapy did for me when i dropped acid for the first time... Hell, weed helped more than the psychiatrist to relive my depression, acid was life changing for the better. Drugs can fuck up your life if you let them, its about your choices as far as what drugs you do, how you do them, and how much you do. With the exception of weed i love psychs, most are not addictive and i tend to learn a great deal about myself. I do allow myself the occasional opiate/opioid indulgence but that is a rare thing. I recognize my potential to be an addict, addictive tendencies run in both sides of my family and i know that the cravings i get for things will only get worse the more i do them so i moderate myself to avoid addiction.

unless you drop dead suddenly you wont die sober. If you die in a nursing home or hospital in your old age you can be certain you will be pumped full of drugs that are keeping you alive. Every old person i know has a goddam small pharmacy in their house that they eat every single day.

This, basically. Nothing even matters in life anyway. Why not spend time expanding your mind through chemistry?

Do they really need a point? It's fun to do, so people do it. That said, I try and get the most out of every drug experience, but sometimes the only reason I do drugs is for the sake of doing drugs. So, yeah, they can be pointless, but so is everything--and I'd rather be achieving nothing whilst shit-faced than achieving nothing whilst sober. That's just me, though.

I wish this too. Although, that said, inevitably after a certain amount of time the negative aspects would start to become more apparent. I'd wish for being able to be high all the time, without any negative ramifications, but that's not really possible. I can dream, though. :(

Seriously though,
Everyone in life is searching to get high...and by whatever means you do it it isn't fake. It's all cause and effect. And if anyone gets to a point in there life where they are happy all the time let me know. With or without drugs that isn't going to happen.

But we all know the burdens of doing drugs, and i think that is why most people get out of it as they began to get older...they want other things to get them happy/high (family, good job, etc.) and most drugs don't fit into that life style.

Are the drugs really pointless? How do you know that? What if the drugs inspired existential thought that has led you to Nihilistic thought? Woah man ahhhhh!
