I have moderate to severe anxiety. Not a single (sober) day have I walked outside my house and not felt like everybody is watching me and critisizing me, even if nobody is visible. I can't really go too much into detail, and I'm sure you don't really want to hear about it. I'm 17, and I don't have a psychiatrist or anything like that, mainly because of money issues in the family as well as me being too embarassed to suggest getting one for myself.

I've tried xanax and other benzos before, and they seem to REALLY help me out in low doses (say .5-1mgs xanax).

However, one of the main things thats stopping me from going to a psychiatrist is that I know I can't get benzos if they know I smoke weed, let alone all the other drugs I do. I could potentially just lie to them and say I've never done anything, but I have a feeling that since they're pretty much professionally trained to play mind games, they'll figure it out eventually.

Plus during a physical I told my doctor I smoke weed occasionally, I don't know if that gets recorded somewhere, which results in me getting automatically banned from any medication worth taking.. may seem rediculous to you, but its a legitimate concern for me.

Please help me.. I don't know what to do.

They'll still give you benzo's man. They will just stop telling you to smoke weed. If it's a genuine health issue that effects your life (which it is) then they can't deny you meds cause you smoke weed. Wherever you heard the above stuff is full of shit.

I thought if you had ANY history of drug abuse (such as smoking weed), then you're automatically disqualified from getting benzos due to potential for abuse.

Am I wrong?

Not true. The only way you could be 'automatically banned' from receiving perscriptions is if you get 'Drug Seeking Behavior' written on your medical records, then good luck getting tylenol. But just because you told some doctor during a physical that you smoke pot wont 'disqualify' you from getting meds, it aint a fucking race kid.

Man up, head over to shrink and just tell him the deal. Don't mention that you abuse drugs or that you smoke pot. Don't get me wrong, it will hurt your chances of getting a script if your shrink thinks your a pothead, but as long as you keep yourself presentable and keep your mouth shut you should be fine. But never admit that your a regular pot smoker. Also dont walk in smelling like Bob Marley with your eyes as bloodshot, thats a given.

Also, if you think that your just going to walk into an office one day, complain about your anxiety and walk out with a script for benzos then your seriously mistaken(Unless your doc was as corrupt as mine). It's been done im sure, but be patient; you'll most likely have to go through a couple bullshit meds before you get any kind of benzo script.

i dont think taking lithium, and ssri's are worth it to get a benzo script.

if you dont wanna treat ur "depression" and want benzo's then just get them on the streets. plus ur17 wait till ur like 21 and have a job and shit.

No, but tossing those first two scripts in the trash and then going to tell doc about the side effects you got from them is.

Thats what I'm planning on doing. Theres no fucking way that I'm going to take antidepressants.
