Inviting a girl over for breakfast
How can you manage it, without her getting the idea that you have sexual intentions?
I've invited a few girls over for breakfast and they all think it's an invitation to come home with me for the night.

Re: Inviting a girl over for breakfast
I believe it depends on whether you ask them the night before or that morning.
Also, why breakfast?

Wear a gay-looking sweater when you ask them.

I think you'd have a lot more success taking them OUT for breakfast. Unless, of course, it's one of the morning after type deals. Then just cook her some

Re: Inviting a girl over for breakfast
Why breakfast?
Cooking a big breakfast is something that I enjoy doing every now and then and I like to share it with people. I've never managed to invite new girls over for a this without them getting the wrong idea.
Breakfast is the start of the day. It leaves things open for doing whatever comes to mind as the day moves forward.

Ahah.
Do you mean like, you want them to sleep over just so you can make them breakfast?
Are you sure this isn't a sexual invitation?
Just specify that you'll make them up a nice bed in the spare room/fold out couch/bathtub or where ever.

Re: Inviting a girl over for breakfast
No, they aren't invited to sleep over, though there's always a few spare places to sleep.
Girls just seem to get the impression that I'm flirting, or flat out hitting on them, when I invite them over for breakfast.
Maybe detailing what time they should arrive would help, but I'm not much for unnecessary schedules.

Re: Inviting a girl over for breakfast
Because it's odd, that's why. You don't need to question why it's odd, it's just convention at this point. But the point of a first date is that it's secure and safe and nothing strange. You don't invite girls out on a date to your personal dungeon, you ask them out to lunch at a public place, the first time anyway.
And in all honesty, and it may just be the shitty communication that we get over teh intrat00bz, but you strike me as creepy as fuck.

Be vague about the exact time then, but clear that the invite is for them to come over that morning.
"Hey I'm making a killer breakfast tomorrow, there will probably be too much for me, you should drop by sometime in the morning".
I also share your love for massive breakfasts and never realized how good they'd be to invite some one to.

Re: Inviting a girl over for breakfast
I'm gonna agree with the dude that said breakfast doesn't really seem like an appropriate "first date".
I'm also gonna go out on a limb and say that any girl who does accept this strange, albeit interesting, invitation, just might be a raging slut...
But hey, prove me wrong.

Re: Inviting a girl over for breakfast
Brunch, my nigga.
Brunch is where it's at lately, no fucking breakfast.
You think women can be logical?
Seriously though, invite her out to brunch, when she says yes agree on a time, something like 9-10am. If she says "lol omg that's breakfast" tell her you've been getting up at 6 ever since you were in the army, but not to worry because you've been honorably discharged after single-handedly saving the president's puppy from being run over by osama bin laden 3 years ago, and have since reverted to a perfectly normal civilian life, and therefore 9 or 10am isn't breakfast but brunch, or you can just make it breakfast.
That way, it's not awkward when you invite her for breakfast, since it'll be her idea and not yours.

Also, if you make her a massive breakfast you can see if she's a big eater. A girl who eats a lot is a keeper.

Re: Inviting a girl over for breakfast
It's nice to see a girl that's comfortable with eating a good-sized meal.
Rykoshet, I do wake up around then every day. It's a bad habit that I picked up while I was working as a baker. I either roll over and head back to sleep or go do something fun before everybody else wakes up. Sometimes it makes for a solid lack of sleep, but it always makes for a good start to the day.

Doesn't change the fact that my advice is gold.
Invite her out to early brunch, and if need be change it to breakfast.
You can serve it with a nice warm cup of win.

How is it win if the point isn't to get laid?
I don't really get the point of this thread. Invite friends for breakfast, not random girls. Obviously they think it's a ploy for sex; plus, it's odd. If you really aren't going for sex, then I'd say meet up at a fairly nice place for breakfast/brunch if you're absolutely intent on 'sharing some bullshit' with them or whatever it was you said to begin with. Trying to arrange for some random girl show up at your apartment at 8am sounds like failure waiting to happen.
And wear a gay sweater so they won't think you want to fuck them.

It's win because he'll have breakfast, and NOT have sex.

You beat me to it.
Or don't ask her over for breakfast the morning after you talk to her. If you talk to her on Thursday make the plan for Saturday. It also comes off as a little less creepy than asking her to have breakfast the next morning.

I don't understand the problem. If they think you're hitting on them and say yes, well then you're in for some sex, if they say no just explain what it actually meant.
I dunno, no one ever has sex with me.

Why the fuck would you invite anyone over for breakfast?
Breakfast is the meal you have right after waking up.
Unless they live next door this is ridiculous.

Stab yourself in the dick while you ask them, so they know you don't plan on using it. Keep a completely expressionless, straight face while you do it, never breaking eye contact. For extra points, wear white pants and completely ignore the massive bloodstain on your crotch for the rest of the day while you hang out with them.

Re: Inviting a girl over for breakfast
I would think it was extremely fucking weird if someone asked me to come to their house for breakfast if we didn't already hang out on a regular basis. It sounds like something out of some arty indie movie: loveable dork protagonist invites quirky art-chick to eat bacon and eggs on the roof, or something.

Wanna go eat some bacon and eggs on my roof?
Actually, fuck that, my roof is scary. Last time I was on I was too scared to descend using the ladder so I had to jump off.
Want some breakfast in my kitchen?

You're way off the mark. Some girls just think every guy wants to fuck them, and they take great delight in telling all their friends "omg eww this guy was so trying to get into my pants".
Stop inviting over egotistical women.

Of course I already know the people. I didn't think that I needed to point that one out. I don't invite everybody that I know into my home - many of them are party people or less than balanced.
Normally, this all takes place at a restaurant for brunch; however, I'm trying to save money and fit some cooking into my life.
It's simply a relaxing way to start my day with some friends. There's little reason for me to share the details; the people that I was looking to for a thought already knew of them and offered up a few good ideas.

Then just invite them over. You don't need to carefully choose your phraseology when dealing with friends, do you? And do all your friends think you want to sleep with them?

Yes, more than a few of them look for any excuse to become more than friends. I don't like giving them openings or having to have a talk with them about something that I've accidentally done. These talks can be tiresome and I have them on a fairly regular basis because I very rarely watch my phraseology or censor myself.

Re: Inviting a girl over for breakfast
Euda:
I have a serious question for you. I ask you, out of all the people on totse because I have a feeling that you are the only one who can possibly answer this question for me. So help me please...
Anyways I was talking to this guy. One day he mentioned that his spirits were crushed by the weight of the world. I asked him why, he said, "because time is getting on". And I didn't know how to respond to this. I felt that he was opening himself to me but since this has never happened me before (having another person pouring his/her heart out to me) I was at a complete loss at what to say.
What should I have said to make him feel that I am "the one", or at the very least, to make him think that I understand his pain?
Thanks.

You ask him if he expected his life to be different at this point. Lots of people have very set plans for their lives and get disappointed if/when they don't reach them.
Then, you go on to talk about how you would like to be a part of his time. Maybe joke around, maybe be serious. It depends on where the conversation takes you.
