Almost getting laid should be defined as you were on the path to getting laid (ie, you would have gotten laid), but something happened that prevented it from happening.

If you were dry humping as some kind of foreplay with the intention of having sex, but during the dry humping, the house caught fire, or a dog ran into the bed room and shit everywhere, or some other senerio, then that would be almost getting laid. Because you were about to get laid.
